Re: G5 Montec Shooters.... I had a similar experience, and wsa told by my former pro shop to switch from feathers to vanes - son of a gun it did help...the vanes were 4" quick spins, and I think the increased rotation minimized the opporunity to generate the "buzz". In an effort to minimize weight, I fletched up a few arrows with the Bohning Blazers (with 2 degree RH offset) and had no more "buzz" In order to improve the FOC, I moved from the 125 gr to the 100 gr and haven't looked back. Just my 2 cents. John

Re: Straight-fletched Blazers? Thanks all, you have just given me a boost of confidence. Good luck to everyone. All the best, John <><

I ordered some new Maximas from Keystone, and through an jumbled series of things I ended up with a dozen arrows with 2" staright fletched Blazers. Will they fly as true as with a 2 degree offset or helical. Any feed back is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Gold Tip Manufacturing Thank you sir - just a brother looking for a little insight before spending some cash.
-
Re: Gold Tip Manufacturing I understand the ones marked: "Made in the USA" - are okay - while those not bearing any source were made in Mexico. The early feedback has not been positive - I'm thinking about switching to the Carbon Express Maxima's - however the tolerance and gpi were what attracted me to the Gold Tips in the first place. John

I understand that Gold Tip has moved their manufacturing out of the US and that the current quality isn't what it used to be - can anyone verify or give some insight on the current on game performance? Thanks. I'm just looking for some feedback before investing $100 - thanks. John

Re: Shockwave broadheads Stop by a dentist's office and pick up some rubber bands used on braces - some will give them to you for free - others at a nominal cost. John <><

Re: Georgia Bowhunters I'm a displaced midwesterner here in Georgia - it is a wonderful state - quite a bit warmer than what I'm used to. Any suggestions regarding public land hunting? I know very few people, and most are non-hunters - any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. John

Re: Super Carbon Arrows? Thanks for the info
-
Re: Super Carbon Arrows? Now that I tink about it, you are right about the name and manufacturer. What is the significance of 5 grains per lb of draw weight ? I understand there must be a limit between the bow's ability to transfer energy to the arrow and the bows' ability to absorb the residual shock. The speed improvements claimed by the rep on my SQ2 set at 73 lbs over the 28.25" ACC's was almost 50 fps - I was worried that it would cost me $100 for the arrow, and possibly a whole lot more for a new bow after it blew up. Is 5 grains/lb of draw weight the line between genius and insanity? Thanks. John

I went to the Georgia "Buck-a-rama" this weekend and there was a booth with a guy selling very stiff carbon arrows that weighed 5.5 gpi. There were claims regarding straightness and spine, however, the speed claims seemed a bit unreal. I forgot the name of them, but at $100/dozen it was just a little to expenseive to make a possible mistake. Has anyone else used these arrows (I wish I could remember the name) - or this light of an arrow? It seeems very risky and potentially could blow up your bow. Thoughts?

Re: Easton AXIS The diameter difference caught me a little off guard and I needed to do some adjusting on my rest. However, I still like the ACC'c better.

Re: Tying a String Loop Some else posted a nice tip: serving the center portion of the string loop for extended wear. Therefore, once you get it set right, it should last for a long, long, time. John

Re: Recommendations for Custom Arrow Those are some awesome looking arrows! What broadhead did you use? Your set up is nearly identical to mine and I am interested in he broadhead and any FOC info you might have. Thanks. John

Re: Recommendations for Custom Arrow Shoot well?
-
I'm looking for recommendations for someone to build custom arrows for me. Nothing too fancy (55/75 GT Pro's cut to 28.25" w/ Blazers) - but they need to be reliable and not too far out there on price. Any reccomendations or web sites? Thanks. John <><

Re: Fixed Position versus Adjustable Bowsites HELP! After installing the new site. I cannot drop the pins low enough for the top (20yd) pin to get on target. The left/right is perfect, but do I have to move the peep, the rest, the loop...I'm out of adjustment on the Trophy Ridge...ARRRRGGGGHHHH. Can anyone offer advice on what to do next?
-
While I have been shooting an adjustable from HHA (located in my former hometwon); I am switching to a Trophy Ridge 3 pin. I missed a real nice buck last year because I forgot to adjust the yardage; just clipping his brisket hair. Has anyone else switched? After plunking down more than $100 for my Trophy Ridge I must confess to a little bit of buyers remorse; more than what my wife will say when she sees the bill - did I make the right call. Thanks, John

Re: 100 gr or 125 gr that is the question? I would recommend a quick check of the charts to understand if the arrow is spined properly for either broadhead. Additionally I would also determine if there is a meaningful difference in FOC (front of center). If both check out, then I would shoot them both to determine which fly better. Juts my two cents worth John < ><

My family and I have moved from Wisconsin to Atlanta, GA last year. After a very tough year, I feel as though I have been banished into bowhunting purgatory. As much as I hate to say it, I may have to save my nickles to hunt with an outfitter. Not that outfitter's are bad, it's just the feeling of losing my independence. I'm not looking for psychological help (although my wife may diagree), just advice on where some good bowhunting mught exist in the state of Georgia would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Blazer Vanes They flat out fly great! I was using the NAP Quick Spins and switched to the Blazers for weight and durability concerns. By saving weight I was able to switch to 100 gr. G5 Montecs (fixed bldes) and now my ACC's fly like darts. It will be a long time before I shoot anything other than Blazers My set up: Mathews SQ2 73# Trophy Ridge Drop Zone HHA Optimizer Light ACC 3-61's 28.25" 100 gr G5 Montecs 2" Bohning Blazers String Loop Carter Release BLAZERS BLAZERS BLAZERS!
-
Re: Recommendation Thanks for the feedback - I think I'll go the little heavier route. With 2" Blazers, my current set up is right at 11.47% FOC; and this should be the same with the new GT's. All the best John <><

I currently shoot a Mathews SQ2 with the limb bolts set right down to the max. By the scale it pulls 73 lbs. The arrows I currently shoot (ACC 3-61's) are cut to 28.25" - shooting a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone. I use a 100 gr. Montec's; this set up flys like a dart. My question is this: I would like switch to the Gold Tip Pro Hunters - but at 28.25" aand 73# with 100 gr. head; it appears (from their chart) that this combination is right between two sizes: 5575 and 7595. Any thoughts or recommendations? Thanks. John <><

Re: Ripcord Dropaway users, need help Someone asked "why?" - I answered "Why not?" Jarod - I appreicate your desire to see how things work - I would replace it in the shiny slot as this was probably where it was last. Although, there is some cost in every chunk of metal milled out - makes you wonder what they were thinking by having two cut in there, eh? Razor <><
