  1. AWESOME!!!! Can't wait to hear a story, hopefully he can find the deer in the morning!!! (and see a pic!!!)
  2. i would send a PM to jcwa... he is the one that is running the contest...
  3. congrats on the kill Tom!
  4. i hunt on about 40 acres of property that i know real well, so it would be hard for myself to get lost, been turned around on other pieces of property though, i just try to look for familiar lanmarks... one example is we have a large rock hedgerow that runs east-west that if i find i could get to where i need to be... glad you made it out OK though!!!
  5. had a fun night last night... got into the stand @ 3:10, got my safety harness strapped to the tree, got my bow on my hook, nocked and arrow, turned around to sit down, and I look out infront of me and see a deer coming out of the thick brush right in front of me... Wasn't even in the stand for 45 seconds... Saw it was a button buck so I knew I wasn't going to shoot... He ended up bedding down 43 yards from me after feeding for a while... He got back up after laying down for about 40 minutes... maybe 5 mintues later he bedded back down 38 yards from me... He never left the area until 4:50... It was real cool to just watch him the entire time... He ended up coming back later just before dark along with another deer... it was too dark to tell what the scond deer was, either a big doe or real small buck... Won't make it back out until Friday morning...
  6. like most everyone else has said, it's lighter to drag, no need to pull all that extra weight... it creates less of a mess then if you do it in the garage, lets the guts and blood spill out onto the ground and let some yotes' eat it... always been brought up to field dress a deer in the woods, never thought of doing it any other way...
  7. congrats on the doe! everything i am seeing so far is too small too shoot... (button bucks and small bucks) hoping something big will come by!
  8. feeling that way right now, and just about every morning when i have to get up and go out... i probably should go out, not gonna see nothing sitting on the couch watching TV...
  9. at 5' 10" and a mere 140 lbs (on a good day) I'll have to pass... :-P will be interesting to keep track of tho...
  10. seen 4 deer this AM...my stand butts right up to a neighboring property, and another hunter decided to walk within 50 yards of me beofre he saw me waiving my hands... pretty much ruined the rest of the morning hunt... gonna take tonight and tomorrow AM off before getting back out there monday afternoon...
  11. very cool steve! a memory that will last a lifetime for sure!
  12. saw over 12 deer this morning and about another 6 this afternoon... i missed a good 8 around 9:30 this morning... shot right underneath him... :-/
  13. missed a big 8 myself this morning... not too happy about that one!!!
  14. have a treestand i hunt out of all the time... it's on the edge of many, many acres of thick brush... deer like to come out of the thick stuff early in the morning and hang out in the woods for a while... they do the same thing just before dark... only bad thing is most of the deer come out onto property that is next to the one i hunt, and unfortunatly i don't have permission to hunt that land...
