  1. I'm from Enid, Oklahoma. I'm a commercial and residential carpenter.
  2. I have an Avery Power Hunter and love it! The only draw back to me is the field of view mostly when birds circle behindbut I half way solved that problem by taking out every other line of netting to make looking back easier. Also I am 6'4 and 280lbs and can fit into it with not much fuss just wish it were a little longer.
  3. Some good rifles in price are Rem 700, Savage, Win, h&r and the vangaurd line of rifles. A .270 win, .308, 7mm rem mag, 30-06 and 25-06 would all be good calibers. You will difently need good glass to go on the rifle for hunting out west. Nikon Buckmasters line of scopes are pretty good and won't break the bank.
  4. It is hard to say what choke is going to pattern best out of your gun since no 2 shoot alike, if your main load is going to be black cloud shell there is a choke made for black cloud shells. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0060547229310a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=black+cloud&Ntk=Products&sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1
  5. You can use any type of steel with that choke but do not use it with black cloud shells because of he flight control wad. With the black cloud you want to use a choke that doesn't strip or slow down the wad like the pattern master does.
  6. this is the only thing i could find http://www.e-gunparts.com/model.asp?idDept=113 or this http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=1580z100%20HAMMER%20DOUBLE%20BARREL&MC=
  7. If you have the owners manual it should tell you how to break down the gun and clean it. Here is a link with some info that might help http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/Remington_7407427400.htm

  9. My favorite one is where the best man takes a key off his keychain and hands it to the bride and says "I guess I won"t be needing this anymore"
  10. Welcome to the forums! As with any gun no 2 are exactly alike so you will have to get a few boxes of differnt brands and see what it likes to eat.
  11. I hear it all the time, it does get pretty old when they say it everytime they see you.
  12. my 2 best bucks were both killed November 24, 9 point in 02 and 8 point in 03.
  13. Are you looking for a semi or a pump? As the others have said remington 870 and mossberg 500 for pump guns. Remington and charles daly I belive make youth semi's. You could also look for regular shotgun and cut the buttstock down to size and its a youth gun, then later on buy a new stock when they out grow it. If the young hunter is on the smaller side I would look more into a semi-auto to help cut down on the recoil.

  15. The 835 will do everything the 500 will do and more. With the 835 like you said you have to option to shoot 3 1/2 plus the barrel is over-bored to 10 gauge which will give great patterns, if you are not used to shooting a 3 1/2 pump you will have to get used to the longer pull so you don't short cycle it. The extra 24in barrel would be nice in the turkey woods so there will be less movement. What is really comes down to is what fits you best and what you like best.
  16. I think I would keep the sbeII, mainly because it's nice to have that 3rd shot when you need it. How is the recoil going to be with the o/u and 3 1/2? If you are not having any problems with the sbe and are killing birds with it why mess up a good thing. If it were me I would stick with what you have as it is already one of the best waterfowl guns on the market. Kyle
  17. High school mascot plus my football number.
  18. You don't really lose any meat by not guting the animal, but removing the guts will cool the meat faster, which will help keep the meat from roting. The only thing that my friend and I use is a hoist on the back of the truck the lift the deer in the air and saves time on dressing.
  19. It's about 50/50. If I have a good number of geese landing in one of my field I will forget about the ducks for that day. We shoot mallards, gadwall, widgen, and ringnecks.
  20. My buddy and I have been using a mallard and about 6 goose floaters spread for the past few years, it has worked pretty well. We set the geese about 30 yards away from duck spread and in the early morning just before legal shooting light the birds land with the geese about 70 percent of the time. I guess they stand out more in the dark. As far as calls the quack head line of calls are pretty good, if there is any way you can get with someone who knows how to blow a call right that would be the best way of learning or some dvd's on calling. No matter what call you pick you need to get it now and start practicing as soon as you can, a good rule of thumb is that no calling is better than bad calling. hope this help you out
  21. I would say some good 180 grain would work good. As far as what brand to get try a few different boxes and see what shoots the best out of your gun. I have the same gun as you and mine loves the remington core lokt, but your gun may not.
  22. Yep, it IS the best forum on the net!

    Clinton joke

Hillary Clinton gets elected President and is spending her first night in the White House. The ghost of George Washington appears, and Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Washington says, "Never tell a lie," Ouch! Says Hillary, I don't know about that. The next night, the ghost of Thomas Jefferson appears...Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Jefferson says, "Listen to the people," Ho! I really don't want to do that. On the third night, the ghost of Abe Lincoln appears...Hillary says, "How can I best serve my country?" Lincoln says, "Go to the theater."
