Has anyone heard about the scented hunting candles? Your supposed to lgiht them and put them on/by your stand. Has anyone tried, heard, anything about them? I don't know how this could work, but who knows? Just curious if anyone else has heard anything about them.

Re: When and/or where do you field dress? Right where they lay. Last year my dad shot a deer and gutted it, half an hour later my brother shot a deer out of the same stand sniffing around the gut pile.

Re: Rutting in different areas.... I'm not sure when it is going to happen here in northeatern ohio. I'm assuming about the same time as you which would be around the first week of november. Although I did see a button buck hot on the trail of a doe and then try to mount her the other day, so who knows.

Re: gone.. yeah i found the arrow. it was snapped right in the middle, with the front of it being clean and the back half (vanes) covered in Bright red blood. No stomach contents or muscle, a tiny bit bubbly, but not dark blood at all. No hair to be found.

Opening morning I had a nice 8 point come sniffing around my stand. He hangs around for a while, no clue im there, so at 25 yards i let him have it with what i am positive is a good shot. I decide to give him some time and about 15-20 minutes later my buddy and I go looking for him and find puddles and puddles of blood, but no deer. We searched for 2 hours following this bright red blood trail until the blood stopped, but never found him. So my question is, does anyone have any suggestions or guesses as to what happened? My guess is that I just didn't give him enough time and we spooked him big time and he high tailed it way outta there...
