Re: Shot size for geese??? for ducks i use 31/2 #2 and for geese i use remington nitro heavy shot in a 31/2 bb or bbb. these shells are by far the best. they drop em dead. they hit harder than a ton of bricks. The draw back is they run about $25 for ten.

Re: How big does he have to be? well i shot a pope and young buck in the 04 season with my bow. to be exact it scored 146 7/8. so now for me i dont shoot big or lil bucks with my gun. gun hunting means nothing to me. i prefer bowhunting over gun. i am an avid bow hunter and i wait for bucks that will score 160 class or higher.

Re: Is southern IL overated? i dont believe any part of illinois is overrated. i own 100 acres in fulton county and there are pope and young bucks and higher every where. if anything i wish it was under rated so it would discourage out of state hunters. today to many people know about illinois.

Re: trail cam quetions. well nowadays you can buy digital cams from $100 on up. with everything today u get what u pay for. i prefer the digital one cuz u can check out the pics and choose which ones u want to get developed. stealth cam has a digital for around 150 to 200. they usually run mail in rebayes on them. as to the 100 ones most do not have a removable memory card and each time u have to take it down to check the pics. As to bait (after season until 10 days till opening day) i prefer to use apples. If u know anyone with apple trees just go and pic them off the ground. they attract the deer. good luck

Re: Late deer for the cold i definetely have to agree with sitting up by acorn trees. on our property we have a spot about 30 yards from the field where there is a few huge corn trees. Dec.3 i sat along the field in the woods over looking an acorn tree about 150 yards down in the wods. There i saw a doe and i stalked to with in 90 yards and decided to take her. she dropped in her tracks. i was shooting my muzzle loader. good luck

Re: What goose call..... Well some say that flutes are easier to blow. i found out that they were and bought one. After i started playing around with a short reed i found out that i could produce more realistic sounds. i purchased a winglock walnut short reed goose call. its under 50 bucks and sounds amazing. the funny thing is i tried to blow a flute and i cant do it anymore. lol
