  1. Re: hey Ohio State fans [ QUOTE ] Would that be his excuse for scoring 0 points in the first half of his conference title game? [/ QUOTE ] This is what im talking about. He gets into foul trouble a lot, and he dissapears from games. There is no reason a 7 footer in college should go a whole half without one single shot attempt. He could stand to be a little selfish in that aspect. He deffinitely has some things to work on. I watched him when he played Purdue and he abused them on put back dunks. He maybe made 2 actual jump shots the whole game. Thats fine and dandy at the college level, wont quite cut in in the NBA though unless he puts on Shaq type weight.
  2. Re: hey Ohio State fans I have had to listen to the stuff about Oden for years now since i live in the state of Indiana. Him and Conley were high school teammates as well. Just my personal opinion, but i dont think Oden is all that great. Solid player he is, but not as great as people make him out to be. He just appears to lack some athleticism to me. He is able to feast around the bucket simply becuase he is taller then everyone else on the court. Thats why he gets so many blocks to. In the NBA against men his size, i think he will struggle until he can round his game a little. I have always felt that his teammate Conley was a better overall basketball talent. Theres another kid in this state going to IU next year who may be better then both of them, his name is Eric Gordon. He originally signed with Illinois, then backed out and went with IU, caused quite a stir. He's had several 40 point games and is the number 1 ranked shooting guard in the country.
  3. Re: Michael Irvin is done at ESPN Well i'll be. I thought they would never get rid of that direct link to Terrell Owens. But, it's about time. I actuallly read last week that his job was in jeopardy becuase ESPN believed the man was a "walking time bomb" ready to explode at any time.
  4. Re: Opening night is less than 24 hours away!!! Have fun. I can remember when i played baseball in high school, opening weekend was usually the first weekend in April i believe. In Indiana, you never know what kind of weather you will have at that time. One year we played a double header in snow showers and 20 mph winds.
  5. Re: What pro athletes are involved in the outdoors Josh Beckett, pitcher for the Red Sox. He loves to deer hunt i have heard.
  6. Re: Marty out at SD... I didnt think Dungy would ever win the big one either, and the way his defense played in the regular season, i was ready to see him canned if they flamed out in the playoffs. Look at what happened, they won it all.
  7. Re: PRO BOWL Yeah the hit on that punter was unreal. Probably one of the nastiest ones i had seen all year. I bet Taylor feels like a big man now for unloading on a punter in the meaningless game that is the pro bowl. At least the punter took it in stride and had some fun with it.
  8. Re: Will Rex Grossman ever win a Superbowl as a QB I said it for years with Manning, and i can say it for Grossman too. One guy doesnt win you a superbowl. It is a team sport. The QB's always take the fame or all the crap if they lose, but it is a team game. The Bears strength is defense and ST. There defense in the superbowl i didnt feel was all that great. Indy had nearly 200 rushing yards on them and there tackling was awful. Grossman is still young as far as games started in the NFL. I wont say that he never will win a ring, becuase i have seen some pretty mediocre QB's win rings, but when you have a dominating defense and good special teams, sometimes a mediocre QB is all you need.
  9. Re: superbowl champs Well, im going to attempt to get in on the celebration this afternoon. There having a parade in Indy and then a rally inside the dome. Im going to skip the parade since it's only about 5 degrees and just head straight for the dome. I just hope i can get in, it only holds about 55,000. Going to have to miss my class this afternoon, but i just cant pass this up.
  10. Re: Colts Had Inside Help!!! LMBO!!! Sure did. His name was Rex Grossman. lol Compared to last years superbowl, i thought this game was officated pretty good. Last year was joke
  11. Re: LOL wonder how it gets twisted [ QUOTE ] colts played a better game and they won congrats. Both qb's had under 100 qb rating. Oh well game over we will move on to next year. [/ QUOTE ] LOL. So it goes from "Manning cant win the big one" to "Manning cant win the big one with a QB rating better then 100" Come on DD, you and i both know had that been Tom Brady out there that just wont that ring the entire world would be acting as though he is the second coming. Manning got it done man, just admit it. His team beat The Ravens/Pats/Bears right in a row. Thats probably the 3 best defenses in the league, other then SD. Manning has been labeled a "stat boy" his entire career. Now he finally wins it all, and you want to make a big deal that he had a qb rating under 100?????? Sour grapes dude.
  12. Re: Bears aren\'t wasting any time! Stupid decision to kick to Hester. It was really the only chance they had to win the game. Im glad Dungy changed his ways after that one.
  13. Re: unreal touchdown I said for 2 weeks not to kick to Hester. I was convinced he was the ONLY way the Bears could win this game. Im glad Dungy got his head our his rear after the opening kick. I was going nuts afetr that, i seriously couldnt believe they kicked to him. There offense didnt do a thing all night.
  14. Woohooo Colts. Best in the world. Way to go Peyton, and way to go defense. The Lombardi is coming to Indy. Hopw u like that DOUBLE DROP?
  15. Re: Michael Irvan in Hall of fame This kinda cracks me up. The NFL sends out it's lawyers yesterday and orders Tony Dungys church in Indy to cancel it's planned superbowl party for the youth or face legal action. Apparently, out of home group viewing is prohibited if you charge a fee. Yet, the bars are allowed to do it. Then today they elect a coke user into the hall of fame. The same guy who was just busted last year for having a crack pipe in his car. What a message they are sending.
  16. Re: Deer and Turley Expo. Indianapolis, Indiana. I went last year for the first time. I mainly wanted to see the Indiana "Wall of fame". Some of the biggest bucks from this state are on display and there are some beauties there. Other then that there is an awful lot of outfitter/guide services/ and other little booths with bow reps/treestand reps and several venison food booths. I tried some chili there last year that was excellent and ended up buying the seasoning. There are also seminars there, last year the deer one was with Roger Raglin, this year it's Chuck Adams and John Carroll.
  17. Re: Colts vs. Bears [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The Colts offense hasn't shown up in the playoffs [/ QUOTE ] You didn't see the 38 points or whatever it was they put up against NE? Didn't Chicago only put up 13 or so against NE? And if I can use some of your logic from a thread earlier this year.....since Indy beat a team that beat Chicago, Indy should have no problem beating Chicago. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, i was going to say the same thing. The Colts put up more points in one half on the Pats then ANY team scored in an ENTIRE GAME all year long on them. Yet according to DD, the offense just hasnt showed up.
  18. Re: SUPERBOWL PARTY I think me and the wife are inviting my parents over, thats probably it. Typically me and my wife watch the games alone. I can get pretty crazy so thats why we usually dont have anyone over. During the first half of the NE game last week i made my wife so mad that she watched most of the game downstairs in the basement lol. As far as food, normally i cant eat during the games, too nervous. I think we will have some pizza and wings around though. I will have a 2 liter of coke and JD at my side most of the day and night.
  19. Re: C.O.L.T.S. They just changed the S to Superbowl instead of Sunday. Normally, it is Count on losing this Sunday. Seen it many of times as a Colts fan and am happier then heck that it now says superbowl lol.
  20. Re: I Predict.... Unless someone says something stupid today at media day, i dont look for this superbowl to have that extra incentive to watch for. Last year it was Porter and Stevens who provided a little fuel to get the fire going. I wouldnt look for the Colts to trash talk a whole lot with Dungy being there coach. A lot of people are going to think it's boring without that bickering back back and forth, personally i like seeing a couple teams with class just go out and play a football game. Im sure the ratings will be off the chart here in Indiana. I live almost exactly in between chicago and Indy. There are several Bears fans here as well as Colts fans. Nobody here is going to care about ratings.
  21. Re: Colts vs. Bears [ QUOTE ] Well lets see the colts running game is a one man show and the bears have three running backs that are very good. The colts defence is no were near as good as the bears and the fact that the colts could hardly stop the pats return man who is only half as good as Hester. Manning is a great player but it will take more than that to beet the bears. [/ QUOTE ] The Colts running game is a one man show??????????????????????? That might have been true when Edge played there. Not now, they are a 2 back system in Rhodes and Addai and it has worked perfectly this postseason. Special teams is a concern, and since the Bears primarily win on defense and special teams, i would look for Indy to do everything but kick to Hester. Giving Grossman a shorter then normal field isnt like giving Tom Brady a short field. Plus, they beat Brady despite all the ST issues, just shows how good of a team they are. The defense actually played one heck of a game versus the Pats when you consider field position. The D isnt as good as the Bears, but it's been very solid this postseason and there 2 pass rushers are 2 of the best in the business. So Bears fans better hope Sexy Rexy isnt forced to throw much.
  22. Re: Colts vs. Bears [ QUOTE ] The Bears, hands down and by 12. Manning will watch most of the game from the bench as the Bears keep him off the field with their running game. When he does play, alot of his view will be of the roof as he is laid out each time he drops back to pass. What were they, 13-3 in the regular season? If the Bears are as bad as you all think, I doubt they would have made it here. [/ QUOTE ] 13-3, in the NFC. IIRC, 2 of there losses were to teams from the AFC. There a good strong defense, but i highly doubt that record would be anywhere near as good if they played in the AFC. The Bears strength of schedule was dead last in the entire NFL.
  23. Re: Colts vs. Bears [ QUOTE ] Tha bears. I think this will be the best super bowl in a long time I can't wait. If the bears had Brown and Harris it would be no contest but since they don't bears by 6 [/ QUOTE ] Even with Brown and Harris, i still dont think they are as good as Baltimores defense. Plus, Indy has played basically all year without Corey Simon/Montae Reagor/Mike Doss/Brandon Stokley. A lot of people forget that. All 4 of those guys are starters and 3 of them are defensive starters. I really think the superbowl game is a game where Indy really could use Stokley. I am concerned about Urlachers speed, i know he can hang with Dallas Clark over the middle. If we had Stokley in there with him, it would really cause some matchup problems with the Bears D. The other part that concerns me is Hester returning kicks. I hope Indy kicks short and away from him all game.
  24. Re: Colts vs. Bears Well, i hope it's the Colts. The Bears D is good, but honestly they are not on the same planet as the Ravens defense in my opinion. The Ravens had all pro defenders at every level of there defense. They had a LB that was so athletic he could play everything from end to safety. NE defense wasnt bad either, and Peyton tore them up in the 2nd half. The Bears are missing 2 guys from there defense in Harris and Brown. I deffinitely feel better with them on IR. The Bears defense was pretty poor at the end of the year, i know Tampa Bay put up over 30 on them in Chicago, and the NO game was probably there best effort in a while. The weather and NO inability to hold onto the ball killed them. I say as long as the Colts dont beat themselves with fumbles and penalties, they should win the game. If Indy can keep stopping the run, then Freeney and Mathis will kill Grossman. Look for him to make a huge mistake sometime in this game.
