  4. Re: Perfect ending to 2005 Thanks for the compliments. I plan to post more reports as time comes. Nice compliments are always nice! I actually right now go to college in the NW part of the LP. However, those pics are from a SE river. I love visiting the UP when I have time.
  5. Yesterday I scouting and hunted a new spot. I thought incase I go to a diff. college next year I should start planning ahead for next season. I found a good run way and set up. However, I forgot my string to bring up my bow so I had to bring my bow up with me while using the climber. Was that ever a chore. Made a ton of racket and knew I wouldn't see anything. That's alright though! I got my final hunting fix for the year and can't wait to get out and do some scouting this spring along with some shed hunting. Today I woke up to rain and watch the weather like a hawk. I wasn't going to go out but I figured, what the heck. If I don't hook anything I will just come home early...HA My first spot where I had been doing alright didn't result in anything. Right when I was about to move down two fly dunkers stepped into the hole I wanted to fish. I decided to wait them out. After they left I made a cast into the hole and "kaplup," bobber down, and FISH ON!!! This fish put up a heck of a fight and is one of the prettiest steelies I have ever landed. Fought like a fall run. Double striper! I love this pic By the way it fought and having no fin clip, I want to believe it was a natural. Next hole, I had the problems. Lost bobber, tree catching my jigs, and no fish. I moved on! Next hole is one of my favs. When I got there a guy came by runnin his dog. He asked whether is had any luck and before I answered, the bobber shot down. I don't know how I hooked this fish because I had way to much line out. I finally felt the fish when my pole was all the way behind me. The only problem was my line was wrapped in my zipper. So I grabbed the line, set the hook, and untangled my zipper. Thank god I still had the fish on. However, he founght like a log and came right in. Hatchery steel fight great, don't they, lol. Fun none the less. I didn't think it would get any better, but was I in for a surprize. Just when I started to get ready to move on the bobber shot down again and I was into a hot fish. I didn't think I was going to land this fish. I had logs about 60-70 yards down and she almost got there. She was a stubborn little girl. I though at first I had a salmon. Finally she was in and I was surprized to see no fin on her either. All fish hit small white bags. Had a bobber down after that but missed it. THat's alright because I was exhausted. I made my way back and looked at my clock. I was suppose to be home at 5 for new years ever dinner. It was 5:30, oops. That's about all i've got. Think i'll take a day off tomarrow and fish all next week...can't wait!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
  6. I was wondering the amount of deer on avg. you saw during your hunts. I saw, to me, a ton of deer before rifle season which was avg about 3. I am thinking I am on a good spot but it might be wise to look for an even better spot this summer. Please state whether you were in the Lower LP, northern LP, or UP and which option you chose. Also whether you were on state land or private! Thanks!
  7. Re: So what are you doing new years eve? want to party but have a feeling that won't be happening. Probably just hang out with the family. I will party though once I get back to school:P
  8. One of my favorite things to do right about this time is look through the pictures I have taken through out the years and expecially the year were leaving. Pics also always seem to make out a good post so let's see yours. Let's see your favorite pics of 2005 that has anything to do with the outdoors whether it's hunting, fishing, camping, or anything else outdoors. I'll post mine as soon as I get on my lab top.
  9. Re: Nice Il bucks. Simply awesome!!!
  10. Christmas eve, got patted down by the cops for "tresspassing." We were looking for a place to hang out and get away from the christmas party. Thank god we didn't get into any trouble that rsulted in me with less money, lol Yesterday, went down to the river where I hooked that steel christmas day. Water was up but perfect stain. Talked to a guy that had been fishing all days with no luck. I stepped in up river of him and hit a fish on my second drift through. Put up a decent fight and I landed a small 23 inch female. Perfect, because I needed some eggs. I pounded that hole and had one more hit but missed it. Moved on down with no luck. White bags were the ticket with a white jig. Got home, tied up some fresh spawn bags. Went out searching for some land to hunt but no luck. Then it was off to the river where again on my second cast I nailed another steelie. At first I thought it was a bigger one because it started of taking some drag. Then it surfeced and basically gave up. It was a smaller one with beautiful colors on it. It was then released. Another caught on a white bag. I walked alot of river, just checking it out since I haven't fished down there in awhile. Same program as yesterday. What a great couple of days. If I can't find a hunting spot in the afternoon, I know where i'll be tomarrow night and saturday night.

  15. Re: Eyes playing tricks???? Been there before several times. I remember my very first bow hunt at the age of 12 the light came up and I could swear they're was a deer lookin at us. 10 AM and the "deer" is still stairing at me. The next mournin I come down to the stand and that same "deer" is staring at me. After are final hunt was over I got out of the stand and went to look. Then I started seeing wooden people??????????? Last year I was hunting and was yet to see a deer. I look to my right and I could of swore I saw horns comin right at me. I staired, and staired but he never came in. It then got to dark and I decided to climb down. To this day I don't know if it was a deer or not.
  16. Re: Some pics from this fall... That's not the case in this spot. Hence the reason were done hunting there. We have put in more time there then any place I have ever hunted and I have seen more at other spots and other peoples area's they hunt that are friends of mine. Now, I know what to look for and can't wait for Oct 1, 2006. I know where i'll be at first light:)
  17. Re: Some pics from this fall... Thanks Guys!!
  18. Well, it's hard to believe rifle season is behind us and it's back to bow season. Of coarse, trying to put off steelies even longer is a hard decision to make. Anyways, around the 8th of Nov I put away my rods and reel and exchanged them for my bow and gun. Although I am still wearing around the white stripe for the fall, I still concider this one of the best hunting season I have ever had. I learned a ton, seen deer consistantly before rifle season started and even seen a few bucks while in the stand. I will go out a few more times with my bow but don't have as high hopes as I did. Anyways, enough of my blabbing, here are some pics of this year's hunting season. Enjoy! My season started off at bow camp where this decent buck was hanging when we arrived. The view from camp was breath taking and the food was awesome. I can't wait for next year. My dad walked upon this scrape: A pretty drive I hunted alot before the rifle opener and seen 21 deer. 4 of which I know were bucks and 10 does and 7 others that I don't know what they were. I want to think they were bucks, lol. Then it was off to my dad's and mine annual deer camp in west branch. Well, the hunting sucked but the time spent with my dad was priceless. Although we will be looking for new spots next year. Here are some pics of our final year in these woods:( The first buck rub we have ever seen here Following pics are where I shot my first and only deer. The blind Finally, I took up my buddies invite to hunt his propery. Wow, is all I can say about this awesome hunting property. I had I think more deer come into my area then I have had in the 9 yrs of hunting. Here is the doe I harvested, my second. I hope to get out in the woods a little bit more earliar next year. That won't be hard being farthur away from rivers with salmon in them. Hope everyone had a nice season out in the woods and good luck to anyone still out there.
  19. I am looking into getting a trail camera. However, I hunt state land and am afraid of it getting stolen. I checked some out the other day and it's looks as if there is ways to stop theft of the camera. Anyone ever have one of these stolen off of state land?? Also, what is a good trail camera for not that much money. Also, when is the best time to use a camera. I sorta of want a new steelhead rod but also want a trail camera. I was thinking of waiting til my b-day in may to get a camera to enjoy a steelhead rod now while the steelies are running the rivers. Thanks for any help
