  1. Re: Different length sabot with Shockwaves(?) I think thats just padding they added cause of so many magnum loads being used now.
  2. Re: New Here and to Muzzleloading I think when everyone says spit patch basicly means you just run some sort of wet patched cleaner down the barrel. Then follow up by a dry patch between shots to keep the deposits down. Rather then doing a full brass brush scrubbing between shots. When I am at the range I clean after every 2nd shot and AI do the whole shabang with cleaner and a brush, cause I figure if I am using my ML for hunting my "kill" shot will be from a clean bore, and that is the base I want to sight in with.
  3. Re: most cost effective scope Those are some sweet prices. I'm kinda ticked off at myself. I already picked up a scope and it was the bushnell shotgun banner series in camo with the circle-X. I went to a local gun show yesterday, and on one of the booths there was a bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 40mm, new for $100.00. That was a seriously great price, but could not justifiy picking it up cause of just buying one. Oh well live and learn......
  4. Re: most cost effective scope Well I went and picked up a scope today, I ended up getting a bushnell shotgun scope, with the circle x in real tree camo to match my rifle. It not a super high dollar one, but it says shock proof, so we will see if it lives up to it. I figure if its designed to handle a shotgun recoil then its plenty good for a ML. Plus the scope is designed to be fast pointing and setup for the same ranges I will be hunting in. I put the Z2 alloy scope base and ring on it cause they are suppose to be really strong compared to normal alum rigs. I pulled out the breech plug and stuffed a lazer pointer into the back end of the barrel, and bore sighted it from there. With a little luck I will get to the range this weekend and see if I will be happy with it or not.
  5. Re: Red dot sight Have you attempted targets out to 100yds with a reddot sight? Just wondering how it felt for you. I have used the Aimpoints on my M-203 when I was deployed (Iraq) but the mounts we were given were the ones that the aimpoint was extended out to the top of the foregrip, so it just felt to far away and bugged my eyes out, so I took it off. But I am willing to give it another shot, and the truglo 2x30 looks alot like the Aimpoint.
  6. I have read up on this red dot sight with 2x mag sounds perfect for muzzle loaders. Anyone used this product and have any comments? http://www.truglo.com/content/prod_s.../reddot_x2.asp
  7. Re: most cost effective scope I have a simmons ATEC on my .270 that I could try out, but all the bolts holding the scope down are all lock tighted with the heavy duty red stuff. So I kinda want to just leave it on there, maybe I will just get another ATEC cause its a pretty dlear pic coming out of that thing. But the Busnell elite has caught my eye as well.
  8. Re: whos using there smokepoles this year for sea gonna try it out for the first time this year, with a CVA optima .50 with 130gr 777 pushing a 250gn TC shockwave sabot. Hoping getting in the woods earlier will increase my luck.
  9. Re: most cost effective scope I saw that scope at the store, just cant see shelling out more money for a scope then what the rifle was worth. Ok so I guess I need to refine this post some what is the best scope most of you feel would work well not going over $200.00?
  10. Re: Cleanest powder pellets? thanks for the info. Glad to know this kind of stuff.
  11. Re: most cost effective scope Thanks for your input. I was looking at this scope cause its right around what I want to spend and matches the camo on my rifle. http://www.swfa.com/pc-7289-183-new-bushnell-3-9x40-banner-dusk-dawn-rifle-scope.aspx
  12. Re: CVA Kodiak vrs Thompson Center Omega X5 I think are about the same more people prefer TC. But I own a CVA and love it.
  13. Re: Cleanest powder pellets? From what I heard 777 pellets are cleaner then pyrodex, and produce a little more ummmf per grain. Thats what I use, and I run 130grn charges and i'm happy with it.
  14. Looking to maybe put a scope on my muzzle loader. Just wanted to get some ideas on a decent rugged but not over expencive best bang for the buck type setup.
  15. Re: CVA optima magnum I think the shock wave is the same exact bullet as the Hornady SST cause if you look at them they look identical, just a different color tip is all. I am not surprised cause Hornady makes bullets for many different companys.
