Blinking Redtail and a Cemetery buck..

Thanks, sweet photos! -
Definitely looks fake. It looks like the deer jumped 8 feet in the air after impact.

Great Pictures! If you don't mind me asking, what kind(and model) of camera do you use? -
Sask- Just curious, how did you get that beast into the truck? And why didn't you field dress it first? Seems like it would have made the task a lot easier.

Give the kid his deer! Theoretically, the kid did kill the deer if it was a "lethal" hit, as mentioned. Besides what satisfaction can be gained by finishing off someone else's deer, then putting your tag on it? I view that as fulfilling as shooting a deer under a spotlight- no satisfaction or sportsmanship whatsoever!!! Chris- Ohio is way too crowded because our tags are too cheap and easy to obtain. I think we should take the Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois approach- $400+ and a lottery for non-residents or at least a reciprocity deal with those such States!!

Bowhunting in firearms season or is it mandatory to wear hunters orange in N. Dakota? Just curious. Outstanding buck, by the way!!

Dude, A buddy of mine fell from 15 feet last week- he has a broken back, multiple broken ribs, broken wrist, and multiple contusions and lacerations. May never hunt again- we just don't know yet. You, my friend, are very lucky, as you already know. Now, do yourself(and us) a favor, and go and buy a Fall Guy restraint system and use it every time you go up and down the tree. It is really a sweet system that stays in the tree. It retracts up and down as you climb or move, but catches if you "jerk" it or fall- just like a seat belt mechanism. To calm everyone's nerves around here, I suggest attaching a copy of the store receipt on this thread when you go out and buy one today!!

Peanuts or trail mix, oh and gatorade- always!

It is so IMPORTANT to give a questionable hit adequate time. 30 minutes isn't near enough time for a gut shot deer or even for a marginal liver hit. If you center punched the liver- the deer would have been dead within a couple of minutes, so I guess a gut shot. Any creek, river, or pond on the property? If so, I would give it a check. Good luck!

I put 60 hours in the last 5 days- 5 straight 12 hour sits. My body is beat up right now- the wind and cold take a toll on you. I did see 4 shooter bucks and tons of small bucks. In fact on Wednesday I had one of the first "hot" does in the area on my hillside, and I saw 22 different bucks that day-2 shooters. They came flying by me at 15 yards right on her tail- literally, but never got close enough again. Great time to be in the woods!

Unfortunately, this all too common. There seems to be an overabundance of morally bankrupt thieves in the deer woods. They just don't care: trespassing, poaching, stealing it just doesn't matter to them. We have dealt with these types before, and I know we will again. The only way to slow them down is to be vigilant and speak to your local law enforcement officers. I hunt with a couple of police officers, and we still have problems, occasionally. I would recommend using a climber, because they will go through the trouble to steal. We had 3 lock-on stands stolen from way back in the woods that were chained and locked. We also used detachable screw in steps. So they had to walk quite a ways, bring a ladder or something to climb 22 feet, and use bolt cutters to steal a friggin' $60 tree stand. SCUMBAGS!!

Trophy Taker Fall Away rest and a Spot Hogg sight- Both are very high quality and reliable.

2nd and last doe for the season and cooliest thing i everseen
Buckeyenut replied to a topic in Bowhunting
So, what exactly was the "cooliest" thing you ever seen? -
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no!? One thing I do notice is a weight difference between the Alpha(3.9#) and Katera(4.5#). I like the Katera, but it just seemed too heavy imo. I'm in the market for a new bow, and the Alpha is on the very short list to check out.

He is overdue. One thing I'll say- if he shoots at one- it's going to be dead.

Now..Now we have to wait until the drying period is over before anything is official! By then, with any luck, I'll have another BBB(here's to hoping anyway)! I'd be happy to keep pace.

Right On! It is all about the gross score.

Chris, I'm so sorry it didn't go 152-1/8 net, but it is still a great buck (and I still have the title)!!

Anyone use 2 diffrent broad heads(rage&steal force)
Buckeyenut replied to 98chevy's topic in Bowhunting
Tink, I'm sorry but I have to comment on your comment. This is a hunting forum that is presumably used by hunters to share and gather information. This is no place to wage a "PC" war. Thanks! As far as which broadheads to use: I HIGHLY recommend the Rage 3-blade. In my hunting circle, we have not had any mechanical failures, and they fly very true with virtually no wind planing. They also provide tremendous penetration and hemorrhaging. Good Luck! -
Oneida, How many mineral sites would you recommend for 165 acre farm? The farm is in eastern Ohio, if that matters. Thanks!

Hey Chris! Hardheaded, gung ho??? You are so right! With that said, we are definitely interested in a perrenial(chicory) and then adding the Fall plot(oats) later this summer. I know we are up against it as far as being late for a Spring planting, but I spoke with our local ag guy and he said we should be all right, but it will depend on how much rain we get. We'll chalk it up to a lessen learned if it doesn't work out this year. I'm not sure what Shawn said, but we are determined and definitely do plan on maintaining the plot(s)(5 acres). We recently found a disc, bought a harrow drag, seed spreader, and sprayer- that may have something to do with being "gung ho"!! We are also going to plant this weekend, so that may have something to do with being "hard headed"!! Anyhow, if you are real nice to us you may get an invite to try and whack a bruiser off of one of the plots(LOL). Anyhow, I appreciate the advice and effort and I'm sure you will be hearing more from us for more of the same. Keep in touch. RP

Re: Has anybody ever heard of Noel Feathers Guy needs to shut up and let Dan handle business. Guy's mean to his dad and just takes over in every scene. He needs to learn sincerity and how to be humble like his father instead of showing how cool he is and how good he is. The funny thing is.. he isn't cool or good! In fact, he is the worst archer I have ever seen on a video!
