  3. this is one of the most interesting threads I can remember I find it interesting that of all the words in the pledge the words under god are the most controversial. I personally find the word indivisible to be interesting seeing as the nation has been devided in the past, and to some extent today from state to state I mean my liberties from state to state are not the same for example concieled carry of a handgun, or marajuana use (not my thing but I try not to judge), or what I can or cant do to the car I drive due emmisions, and just to throw this out there I dont care if gays get married I do however like the fact that In God We Trust is on my money
  4. undertaker moss. 935 3.5in win. no6 lead shot works for me may not work for you
  5. here is what I have learned from the school of H.K. hard knocks turkeys are smart and sometimes dumb somedays they talk all day and others they do not. be patient no matter what you do always wait another 5 to 15 min. before moving, giving up, calling etc. if you see a turkey stay put hens toms doesnt matter. any one turkey will rarely be the same turkey twice (you will see) anything you see hear or read on tv or book may or may not apply to your situation dont be afraid to throw all of this advice away and try something drastic (within the legal bounaries)
  6. slate over glass set in cedar pot. Love it for two reasons 1 I made it with help from a good friend 2 it has a different sound than some with harder wood that draws hens in close and where better to find a spring tom than with hens right.
  7. Never hunted in GA but here in IN public birds are tough as well my advice is as follows. Leave the deeks at home (too risky) dress warm and strip as the day warms, comfotable shoes Blisters are a pain (pun intended) carry pruners to cut brush and set up cover, bring every call you got (they have heard it all before so the stranger the pitch the better) hydration bladder, go deep it will cut back on the human factor, find em in the mourning and be prepaired for a long day of chasing and stalking, and most important GPS and compass we want you to come back when it is done. Hope this helps
  8. man I feel ya I have been trying to whip the bug that got me for about 2 weeks recovery is slow but steady
  9. huh killed his men stole the drugs .....sounds to me like they shouldnt be running drugs through that part of the us.... but on the other hand how much can you trust from a newspaper with a flaming fart on it
  10. We have a name for people like that ....DIRTBAGS That is disrespectful to anyone who has served
  11. this is an outrage. This gives anyone the right to say I was there and I deserve a medal. I feel like most everyone else if someone deserves the medal of honor, silver star, bronze star etc. they should be able to make their case, but to just let any Tom, Dick, or Harry stand up 40 years after the fact (and in some cases without witness to this heroic deed) is hogwash in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, to anyone who serves or has served you have my utmost respect but Uncle Sam must be very selective to whome is awarded this medal. A WWII vet once told me that a silver star aint worth spit in a jar if you dont come home to polish it.
  12. I have never heard of this untill today I may just have to send them some tails (after all I find they have too little meat and too much bone LOL)
  13. personally I like a good old 22lr for this purpose but some other factors figure in to my choices foliage for example a lot of leaves on trees gives little time for aiming a rifle. I do use a 20 ga for the woods around my home early in the year but if hunting in a woods with tall trees I find that a 12 ga works well for taking them from the top of the tall hickory trees but after 1 or 2 shots they clear out in a hurry in wich case a 22 mag or 17 mach 2 or even the 17 hmr is a great choice. Just my oppinion and I am sure others would have different taste in squirrel slaying equip.
  14. bummer of a day man but there is always tomorrow to look forward to
  15. cci has never let me down but I dont know that one is better than another as long as you buy a quality brand
  16. from the standpoint of low recoil my answer is a heavy one the heavier the gun the lower the recoil also a light powder charge 100g or less should provide a good start if you dont like a heavy gun
  17. cva hunterbolt 209 black/nickel investarms/Cabelas hawken (use patched round ball in this with awesome accuracy)
