How easy is it to find ammo? I don't think I have ever seen a 5 mm before
-
That looks like the one. How do you like it?

I am really leaning towards the .17 from Cabelas. By the time I would buy a new stock and barrel for my .22 I would be spending more than the new gun.
-
I just got around to looking at the most recent Cabelas ad and they have a Savage .17 with the heavy barrel and scope for $300 dollars. I am not sure of what model it is but it looks like a good deal to me.

So I am trying to decide if I should get a new stock and barrel for my 10/22 or get a .17. Here are my options I am looking at: A) Get a thumbhole stock and heavy barrel for my current 10/22- Pros- Cheaper, already have a scope, clips, ect, CONS- Really none to be honest, B ) My local Scheels has a used 10/22 for around $140, buy that and buy a thumbhole stock and barrel for it, PROS- I would have 2 guns, one for beating around in the woods and one for target/ long shots, CONS- Cost more, need to buy another scope, C) Scheels also has a deal on a .17 HMR, I can't for the life of me remember what model it is but I believe it is a savage of some sort, It has a thumhole stock, heavy barrel and scope for $550. PROS- A little more power from the .17, once again, 2 guns, CONS- $$$ Anyone have any thoughts on the issue? Thanks

The xBox 360 Pro is most likely the console you want. I have the elite and it comes with a headset (not sure if the pro does or not) that is used for online play, 2 games, a 120 gb HD, hdmi cable and is all black. I didn't need the elite because the Pro would have worked but I felt like paying the extra $100 for the games and HDMi cable. You will need an extra controller because it only comes with one.

Go to the central part of the state and you will see tons of live pheasants. Last year a group of us got 90 in our 2 days out and we had probably that many get away from us.

During the rifle season in SD we are required to wear it. I always wear my orange vest and my bright green hat. I am planning on Archery hunting this year and probably won't wear orange. Where I will be hunting I will be the only one there and it isn't heavily wooded so I would be able to tell if anyone else is there.

I found a Parker HunterMag II today for $200 at Scheels. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I am a few miles outside of Parker.

http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0046351418162a.shtml Here is one that I am looking at. I realized that the BuckHunter XP is a different bow than this one. I am also looking at this PSE Novw SU http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=netcon&id=0063480418745a&navCount=9&podId=0063480&parentId=cat600266&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true

I have been reading around and the Parker Buck Hunter XP looks to be a good deal. $300 for everything to get started. Anyone have any experience with this bow? From what I have read on here, Parker seems to make some pretty good bows. Thanks for the help guys.

I've shot my brother-in-laws bow a few times and really enjoyed it. I really want to try archery to challenge myself a little more and try out some new hunting. I really like being in the outdoors by myself and this is another way to do it. I have a good friend who has worked in the archery department at Scheels for a couple years so I am going to talk to him a bit about it.
-
Well the reason I want to wait to take the archery course is because I want to make sure I have the time and money to invest into it before I take the course. I don't want to take the course and realize how much I want to start archery hunting, and then realize I can't afford it. What would I need to begin hunting? Bow, arrows, etc etc
-
I am toying with the idea of starting archery hunting. I was wondering what a good, reasonably priced bow is. I am a pretty good sized guy if it matters.I was also wondering what some good starting accessories were. The area I plan to hunt is fairly flat with a good amount of pine trees around. I think a ground blind would be the only way to hunt. No one I really know is into archery so it is an unknown for me. If I do decide to try it out I will take an archery course. Thanks

Like they said, you might have to recharge it a bit but that would be it. I don't think you would have to recharge often if the lights are only being used when it is dark.

I live with my parents (I am only 18) and I keep a .22 in my room right behind my door. You cannot see it unless the door is closed and you are in the room. There is never anyone in my room unless I am in there. We live in an area that very rarely has crime. There have been a few garage break ins lately and that is why I have it in my room. It probably won't kill anyone but it will scare someone or hurt them. The other guns we have are locked in a cabinet with shells no where near them, with the exception of my dads Ruger pistol. I have no clue where he keeps it other than its in his room somewhere.

The rack is 21 inches wide, 19 inches tall and about 15 inches deep. The bases are about 2 inches thick. I really did not mind the wait. The guy is doing everything himself and does a great job on everything. Someone told me he is doing a few mounts for Cabelas, that tells me he does a great job. My dad stopped in a couple days after the 2008 rifle season opened and he had gotten in over 50 deer since the season began. The guy was also very honest about when it would be done when I asked and was a really nice guy to chat with. If anyone is looking for a place in southeastern SD to do any taxidermy work, check out Trophies Forever Taxidermy. I also really like his slogan for his company, "It doesn't have to be big to be a trophy."
-
I finally got my 2007 buck back. It took longer than I had expected but he did a good job on the mount so I am fine with it. I shot this in Lyman County, SD.
-
Mine is charging $350 for a shoulder mount. It has taken him over a year so far and it won't be done for a couple more months but I am fine with it. If he does a good job I can wait a while. Supposedly he is doing all the mounts for Cabelas in Mitchell, Sd. If he is doing that he must be good at it.

I was told that you could use Permablue and it would work pretty well. Has anyone tried it? I actually have access to a bead blaster but I wasn't sure if it would ruin anything or not.
-
Alright, I was not sure where to put this but if it is in the wrong spots mods go ahead and move it. I have a 7mm Mauser rifle that is around 30 years old and still has the original finish. I have decided to tear it down this winter and refinish the stock and reblue the barrel. How hard is it actually going to be? Anyone have any tips for me? thanks

Our landfill has an area where we can dump our carcasses for free.

You are smart not to punish him. Each person who has played a sport has gotten frustrated like that before. I know when I played football I would throw some punches in the pile. Also when I would block I would grab the other kid right at the collar and shove my fist right up into his throat. I could control where he went and it would also make him stand up more.

My uncle had a 2007 Dodge with the Cummins. He hated that truck. My grandpas 2006 Powerstroke would outpull it all day. They would put the aluminum livestock trailer on the Cummins and the old steel one on the Powerstroke and the Powerstroke would still walk all over the Cummins. My uncle got sick of his Dodge and traded it in on a 2008 F250 and that is a very very nice truck.
