1. Errogant people 2. People who cut/chime in while you're already talking 3. Drivers who won't use their cruize control on multi-lane hiways (Oh ya! DANG you drivers who pass me then slow down and keep playing "driver leapfrog") 4. People who try to impose their views on others with no sense of " the other person's perspective" (the everyone else is wrong, only I am right syndrome) 5. Drivers who have the legal right-of-way, stop and wait for you to go or else wave others through the intersection. If you have the right-of-way, take it. Others are expecting you to. It is annoying and only causes confusion. 6. People who buy pets, pay attention to them for the first 2 or 3 weeks, then pen them of put them on a chain and disregard them for the rest of their lives. 7. As mentioned earlier, low slung jeans with the crotch somewhere around the knees. What? You got a load of potatoes in there?...I have to think that, 'cause the alternative is not pretty! 8. SPAM / advertising pop-ups 9. Telemarketing calls 10 People who have way too may pet peeves......oh wait, that's me! OOPS!

I remember last year when MUFF posted about his home town on Wolfe Island being nominated for becoming KFAFT Hockeyville 2011. They were ultimately unsuccessful in their final bid for the top honour, but made a very impressive run at the title. Well this year, my hometown of Prescott, Ontario has been nominated in the 1st round for becoming KRAFT Hockeyville 2012. There's been a flurry of activities locally to promote the town and its hockey roots, and I believe the regional cuts are to be posted tomorrow. I'll post more if we make the cut. TBow

I certainly have my personal opinions on this subject, and as others have mentioned, it wouldn't make sense to determine a course of action for your life based on the opinions of others on this particular subject. It would have been so much easier had you asked simple questions like, "What broadhead is better?", or "Compound vs xbow?". You know, real easy stuff! KE Ke ke! But here's a question that you have to ask yourself as it will have a direct bearing on the future of your relationship: Regardless of how sincere the apology, or assurances that "it will never happen again", can you, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, personally rise above all of the fact that your partner cheated on you with another? Oh sure, it's easy to forgive while they're teary-eyed in front of you, but what happens in 5, 10 maybe 20 or 25 years down the road, when that apology is an eternity behind you both, and those grains of doubt (that have never really faded into obscurity), start to surface once again. I can almost guarantee you that there will be days when those traces of jelousy, and doubts of their fidelity will tear you apart. That is a fact! And anyone who said that you will never think about it again, is only fooling themselves and you. If this relationship has any chance at longevity, and at a sharing and loving union, then you have to be prepared to forgive for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, not just a day. And you, and only you, can make that determination. All the best!

My grandson is thought to be autistic, but few doctors will diagnose "autism" for a couple of reasons: 1. As stated, there are many many many levels to being "autistic", from mild to extremely severe, and determining that a behavioural condition is a result of one affliction or another is difficult at best. 2. If a special needs child is diagnosed with any one afliction at a very early age, it may close the door to some levels of financial assistance that are offered from the government or charitable organizations. Autism does not exhibit "black & white" symptoms where a 100% diagnosis can be made in the majority of cases. Autistic children apprear to exist in a world of their own at times and many people falsely determine this to be a sign that the children do not comprehend, hear or understand what's going on around them. There have been cases where severely afficted autistic children have received training or theoroputic assistance where a light has come on with those working with them, that there is indeed a human being impassioned to get out inside that body. Autistic children seem to work very well with visual aids such as cards or computers where touch screems are used. My grandson is 9 years old and cannot talk or walk. My daughter has become very good at reading his moods and body motions to determine his needs and his likes and dislikes. He recently had the opportunity to interact on a touch screen IPad at the school he attends and it brought tears to our eyes to see that there actually was an organization of thoughts going on inside his head. One thing the medical and theoroputic world is convinced of, is that children who exhibit autistic synptoms, tend to show and maintain improvements far more, the earlier in their lives that people work with them. Early in my grandson's life, we learned that you cannot guage a special needs child's progress based on other children. Every child has their own road and speed limit that they go down, so be happy with what they are capable of, and try to stay clear of comparing their progress to what other children can do. I truly believe that there is a key to unlocking every autistic child's world in allowing them to tell us who they are and how they feel. It's up to those that love them, to keep searching for that key. TBow

My Fish & Game Club just built a new building to provide indoor archery and pistol shooting at alternating times. The pistol work is not yet complete, but the archery was up and running tonight for the 1st night for the winter archery league. We ran a couple of nights in December to provide instructions to youth and novices and interest was good. The weather was really bad tonight with the possibility of freezing rain, so the numbers were low, but that was good for those of us who had been giving archery instructions, because we could shoot all night without distractions. I'll sheepishly admit that I hadn't spent a great deal of time shooting and practicing this past fall like I should have, so tonight was more on practicing and getting in shape rather than trying to do any scoring. It sure felt good to be flinging darts again out'ta the bow. I even brought along one of my longbows and launched a few logs out of it just to see what it felt like again. I wasn't able to hold a candle to a couple of the other guys who were shooting equipment with stabilizers, micro adjustable sights and releases, but I wasn't bested by anyone in my catagory as I shoot fingers. I didn't nail a lot of 10Xs, but I did O.K. for the 1st night. Ya, there was the odd shaft that ran amuck of the target, but overall, things felt purty good! I'll miss next week's league night as I'll be in Panama for a week, but on return I'll be right back on the line slinging them there long feathered darts. TBow

It seems like my hobbies of late have been shovelling snow, cutting grass (in the warm times), fixing my dealipdated house, buying groceries, paying bills, fixing my kids', mom's and mother-in-law's houses and working in order to pay for everything already mentioned. In my spare time, I endeavor to rest or sleep allowing me to try and do it all over again....time after time after time! .........Oh oh! Did I just say that out loud? OOPS! Sorry What I really meant to say was that I try and spend time with my grandkids, bowhunt when I can manage it, play with my argo and tinker at DIY'er projects when the money allows. In the last 3 years I've been trying to make an annual pilgrimage to the Carribean, but to keep that up I just may have to come back out of retirement and pick up a job as a WalMart greeter! KE Ke ke! I remember back in the 60s and 70s I was into steroid induced cars and trucks. I had a '68 dodge dart GT with a cammed 273, a '70 mustang Boss 302 that turned the 1/4 in around the high 10s in stock condition, a '64 chevy SS Impala with a 327 HO, and a '53 dodge fargo that I tried (but never completed) to retrofit a 289 into it. Funny how 40+ years, 3 kids, mortgages, grandkids and a mountain of bills tend redefine one's priorities! TBow

Back in late November and into December, my wife would continue to do her "BAH HUMBUG" impression every time I made mention of cutting a xmas tree and putting it up. She even stepped up the rhetoric this year with, "I don't even feel like putting a tree up this year! Let's not!" Then just within the last 5 days or so before christmas, I finally got the drive to put the tree up and spent 3 to 4 hours covering it from tip to trunk and from outer needles to inner bark with string after string of lights. It was SPECTACULAR!.....well at least in my humble opinion. Then the bride took 10 or 15 minutes to put a few ribbons, a handful of decorative balls and a cluster of fake poinsettia and rose flowers into its branches from top to bottom, whining all the time about how she really didn't want the tree up this year, citing that all of our family xmas festivities were to take place at our daughter's house. Well tonight I heard her mumble something about the tree, so I questioned her if she wanted me to take it down tonight. Her reply, "NO WAY! I want it up 'til at least this weekend coming". What was I thinking trying to anticipate just exactly the way a woman thinks! Silly Wabbit! When the day of reckoning for my xmas tree does roll around in 4 or 5 days, it will likely take me a couple hours to remove all of the lights and decorations, neatly pack them away for yet another year and extradite the conifer to outside. My brother-in-law on the other hand, who has been swayed to the dark side by using a (GULP) artificial and fake offering of what is supposed to represent a christmas tree, spends as little time to set it up as it does to put it away. It was decorated once many years ago and ever since the operation to reinstate it and remove it, involves merely removing it from the closet, lifting the gigantic plastic bag off of it to expose it, then resliding the gargantuous bag back over it a week later and popping it once again back into the deep and darkened recesses of a basement closet! WOA the family shame! TBow

Now that kind'a talk is BLASPHEMY I say! C'mon green house effect! KE Ke ke! (just kiddin'!) Ya the months of November and December have been unseasonably mild here too Shaun. We didn't get the snow here on the St. Lawrence that you got in Arnprior. I was at my daughter's house last night in Stittsville, and they've got a good 6" more snow than we have here. The snow we did receive over the past two days, I probably could have cleared it with one of those power leaf blowers. It was just a light dusting of powder snow. We're supposed to get some freezing rain tonight or this weekend I think. The sure sign of winter for me is the seasonal closing of the St. Lawrence Seaway and notice that the last commercial ship had cleared the system. The ice booms are now closed on the river and things will start to freeze up. Time to dawn the thermal coveralls, mitts and touques. TBow

On Monday I popped the tracks onto my 8X8 argo and mounted the snow plow. I took a tour to the north end of town to fill 'er up with gas, and on my way home, I made a few passes on the parking lot where I work part-time just to see how she worked. There's still 3 days of bowhunting left here in 2011 for whitetails, and if I do get out, I'll have the argo ready for any heavy slugging (wishful thinking). It's been a slow fall, hunting wise for me this year, as we didn't have any luck in the moose draw (although we went anyways just for the adventure), and I picked up a part-time job in November, just when the deer hunting opportunities were heaviest. C'est la vie! I'm looking forward to taking the argo out this winter in the snow to maybe try for some 'yotes with the .243. I saw about 30 turkeys this week where I usually hunt, so that was encouraging. Don't want them coyotes doing a number on them big birds this winter. TBow

I must admit that I haven't been out this season near as much as other years. I've been out a couple times since the gun season closed (wasn't out with the gun) with my bow, but sign and deer have been somewhat scarce. Muzzleloading season opens tomorrow and I'm gon'na try and get out to a friend's camp on Wednesday and Thursday, but not too optomistic given the lack of sign I've been finding here. One of my best friends got a 7-pointer on Thursday with his xbow and he called me to give him a hand dragging it out of the bush. He had a few pics on his trailcam of a larger buck that he's hoping to see before the season ends. We had some fresh venison heart that night. A lot of people don't fancy heart or liver, but I look forward to it once ot twice a year. If we get a little snow on the ground this month, I'll be out checking to see where all the deer went in my area. TBow

My "Drive Train Wrranty" on my '07 Silverado Duramax reached its maximum just last week. Before the warranty expired, I took the truck into the local dealership and had a "pressure test" and "reverse flow test" done on the fuel system to check for any weakening of the injectors and fuel pumps so I could get them replaced under warranty in the event that there were any problems. To replace a set of injectors could lighten 'ol TBow's wallet to the tune of $3K to $4K, so getting the tests done was just good old insurance. Things tested O.K., but as I'd been having black smoke rolling out of the exhaust, they changed the EGR valve as a precaution. A few days later, I got a "Service Engine" light, and the respective code indicated a problem with the EGR pump, which was replaced. I did some reading on engine EGR systems and learned that it is part of the environmental system that recirculates unburnt carbons in the exhaust system back into the intake. A lot of the readings that I did on diesel forums, seemed to indicate that an EGR system was seemingly detrimental to engine performance in a number of ways. It was cited as causing gumming up of the air intake system to the point where supplemental cleaning of the intake either by removal of the intake or spraying H20 based mist into the intake to try to resolve the carbon and soot caking. Many indicated they had installed EGR blocking plates (which is illegal in most states and provinces I think) in order to alleviate the recirculation of the unburnt and dirty carbons in the exhaust. If I was reading it right, I think they also mentioned about having to isolate the applicable engine "error codes". I guess my questions are: 1. Is the EGR system actually detrimental to the efficiency of the engine's performance? 2. Will spraying mist into the intake clean out the fuel and air delivery system? 3. Could the spraying of mist into the intake be detrimental to the engine? 4. Are EGR blocking plates in fact illegal? 5. Will installing an EGR blocking plate increase my engine's performance? 6. Will using diesel fuel conditioners (such as Lucas fuel additive) reverse any of the effects of the EGR system? I only bought my Duramax a year ago, and fortunately for me, it had a year's / 25K km warranty remaining on the drive train. I've received almost $6K in warranty work over the past year, but now that it's expired, 'Ol TBow is gon'na be on the hook for all future repairs. I'm keepin' my fingers crossed and keeping the service intervals as regular as I can, 'cause after all, you know what they say: "You can pay me know, or you can pay me later!" TBow
