Goalie, I take it? Watch them knees. I believe I hear Bruce Springsteen's song "Glory Days" playing in the background! TBow

What I now put in my truck, is US diesel. It's cheaper by about $0.75 per gallon than canadian diesel. I live right on the US / Cdn border, so hopping over to fill'er up is no problem. As far as brand is concerned? Whatever station is selling it the cheapest! TBow

My sump pump is running every 2 minutes & 7 seconds.
TBow replied to The Bug House's topic in Lounge
Anybody use a 12 volt backup pump that's set to automatically run in the event of an AC power outage or prime pump failure? If so, do you just use a boat 12 volt bilge pump, or what? How many GPH does it pump and how much of a head do you have to pump (ie: 3 ft; 8 ft?) to exit the basement? TBow -
We got about 2" to 3" snow last night. Then around 4:00 this morning it started raining and is expected to continue for the next 2 to 3 days. I got up early to shovel as I heard the plow pass my house around 7:00 a.m. Plus I had to rush down to my 83 year old mother-in-law's house to shovel her out before she emerged outside to try and shovel the heavy heavy heavy wet remaining snow. Wouldn't you know it, she'd gone outside to shovel before I got there just so she coud get her 6 empty glass jars to the curb for recycling. Man I hope I don't spriral downhill to that level of rediculous behaviour when (and if) I ever get to that age. This wet snow is what I refer to as the ultimate "heart attack snow". Shovellers be careful! TBow

4 to 5 months ago I bought a diesel powered pickup, as diesel was selling here at $99.9/litre, $0.05 less per litre than gasoline prices and mpg ratings for diesel were considerably more than it's gasoline counterparts. 4 months later, and diesel is now at $1.25/litre (a 25% hike at the pumps in 1/3 of a year) and gasoline is $1.20/litre (gas is now $0.05 less than diesel). Gasoline has risen 12.5% in the same period that diesel has hiked 25%. I was always led to believe that diesel was a less refined fuel than gasoline, so I expected that it cost less to produce. Just think at how hard hit the trucking industry is getting nailed with these kind of price inceases for diesel fuel. $1.25/L = $5.69 cdn/Imp gal = $5.00 US/US gal (@ 1.055 exchange rate) TBow

Now let's see. If that were me, a buck forty would buy me a medium double double at Timmy's with a chance at winning a mini van, but I'd be happy with r-r-r-r-rollin' up the rim and winnin' another coffee or donut! Congrats on the windfall! TBow

The continuous rain yesterday (Saturday) and mild temps had most of the filelds virtually bare of any sign of snow here. Yet when I awoke this morning, I had to dawn all my snow gear and headed outside to shovel and plow 4" to 6" of snow that fell overnight. It was powder snow, but the wet conditions from the rain, left the snow base wet and heavy. That's what I refer to as "heart attack snow". TBow

Picked up a free donut today. TBow

O.K. Everyone repeat after me: "The rain in Spain, stays mainly on the plain......by cracky!" :chat: TBow....is it 'T-Boa' (oa as on boat) or 'T-Bou' (ou as in ouch)?

It's been pouring rain here all day as well. My son called me and asked if I could go to his house this morning and disconnect the wiring to his hot tub as he'd sold it and the guy was coming early in the morning to pick it up. Then he told me he'd just got his oil tank filled for his furnace after it had gone empty and now the furnace wasn't working. I had to pull the filter, blow the lines, bleed the system and reset the controls. Then he said his drain on the kitchen sink was plugged, so while he was making breakfast, I cleaned the drain out. The cooling fan on his 4wheeler wasn't working so I pulled the old temperature sensor with broken wires and replaced it with a new one that I'd brought. His bike was out of gas so I ran into town and picked up a couple gallons. When we started his bike in the garage, I opened the garage door to vent things, then he told me the automatic garage door opener would only open the door, but wouldn't close it. So I fixed that. I'd brought some wood for him to burn in his wood stove, so before I left, I cut a couple logs with my chainsaw so he could split them to burn this weekend. I think my kids break stuff just to keep the old man busy in his retirement years! Now I'm back home at my place. And yup, now I'm bored! TBow

And whenever you exchange any currency, whether it be at a bank teller or via debit or credit card, the banks always nail you with another 2.5% admin fee. So in reality, if you're using US currency in Canada (today), it will cost you $1.055 US for every Loonie. TBow
-
And just to keep things in perspective: 1 X US gallon = 3.79 litres The Cdn Loonie hit $1.03 US today. Ergo, 1 X US gallon of gas in Canada costs ($1.24 X 3.79) x $1.03 = $4.84 US TBow

I just went to Georgia and return and we used a GPS. On the way down it kept us on the major interstates. On the way home it should have kept us on the same route, but coming into one city in WV, it tried to alter us off of the interstate. We disregarded the GPS and stayed on the interstate. Ahead of us was construction work, but as it was evening, there was little to no conjestion, so our progress was not impaired. I merely assumed that the GPS system updates itself via satilite with regards to traffic (as has been mentioned) or other restricting issues such as larger current construction projects and routes you accordingly. But I must admit, there are times when I used more than one 4 letter word in regards to that dang nabbit GPS Tokyo Rose! TBow

I left on Sunday for Georgia with a buddy to pick up an enclosed trailer that he'd bought there. We got home this morning around 4:00 a.m. The temperature in Georgia was a balmy 28 C (82 F). Lord almighty it sure was nice. Even saw green grass growing. When I got home this morning it was around -5 C (23 F), windy and snow still on the ground. It ain't fair! No sir! I just ain't fair! TBow

Didn't Professor Brown's Delorean in Back To The Future (#2 or #3) use garbage or recycled refuge to power up the Flux Capacitor? That's what I want. A garbage eating set of wheels. Not one that produces garbage and eats my pocket book. TBow

I left to go to Georgia on Sunday and just got home (Ontario) last night. We drove I81 from the Cdn/USA border to North Carolina then I77 to Georgia. I was driving a diesel pickup, so my observations on pricing leans that way, but I did see the odd gas pricing posted along the 1000 or so miles. Diesel prices per US gal ranged from $3.50 US to $4.00 US (the northern locals being the highest). I noticed some gas prices ranging from $3.20 to $3.64. TBow

A buddy of mine asked me to drive to Georgia with him on Sunday. He's buying an enclosed trailer to tow behind his camper and store his Harleys in. We're gon'na take my Silverado there to bring the trailer home. It'll be a good chance to check my mileage on the Duramax. We'll likely be back home on Wednesday. A couple of his friends are heading to Daytona for Bike Week starting next week. Have a safe drive / or flight and enjoy the holiday. TBow

I'm just thinking out load here, and may be out in left field, but does the 4X4 function on your bike engage electrically? If memory serves me right, my son's bike had an electrical problem a few years ago and lost all electrical power to the controls. We were able to get the bike started manually, but it would not switch the AWD function.....I think. Just something else to consider. TBow
