MichiganHunter replied to MichiganHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
I think I like you answer the best....lol -
might be time to look at a differnet rest. cant go wrong with the old wisker bisket....but I hope you get if workin and kill a monster.
-
I have shot them a few times and found them to be a nice gun to shoot. The full rail was a nice feature for optics. I do know there is/was a reacall on them so you might want to make sure that the gun you buy is not subject to that. If you want to look at anything else. I own a browning buck mark stainless camper. I swaped out the rear sight for a rail and have a nice red dot for squirl shooting and for the girl to shoot. I dont think you can go wrong with most good .22's out there today.

Do you hate your trail cameras too?
MichiganHunter replied to MichiganHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
I forgot to mention this is the first time I have had cameras on this property this early in the season. Typically they are there 2 weeks before gun season, (the owners are NON bow hunting people) just because of the location and distance. I KNOW there are some monsters that go into DEEP hiding durring gun season. this is also the first time I have had them set to take video's....so well see how that goes. -
I dont really HATE them I just hate waiting to pull them I think I am going to rip my hair out before I go and pull them, how long do you let your cameras run before you pick them up. I'm having a hard time just making it a week. It's like a christmas gift you get to half unwrap and cant fully unwrap till season opens..........:bang:

depends on ALOT of thing. bow/gun, background, cover, shooting distance, obstructions. but on average I would say around 20' is normal with my bow. With my climber I have been up to 40' in one area....it gets a little sketchy at that heigth. I also have one stand that only sitts 10ft off ground. it's on the top of a hill with a sharp drop off of 15' to two trails that are heavly used. The two trails are only 10yds and 25yds from the base of the hill so i am 25' above my target and 15yds and 30yds from the trails. but I like to be as high as I can comfortably

both have never been fired or hunted. The practice point has been fired at a block a few time. One of the two broad heads has a few small scratches on them really not sure what they are from might have rolled around in broad head box at some point but they are both new and un hunted like I said. so by me they are going for 39.99 for a new box of 3 so lets say $20 bill will get them to your door with standard mail. Shoot me an email or a pm on here. [email protected]

Shopping for a new smokepole...
MichiganHunter replied to HarvDog's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
I love my pro hunter, the ability to change to a rifle if I ever do an elk hunt. I can shoot 200g with 100g of 777 pellets/2 pellets and a 200g shock wave. I am set 2" high at 100 and 6"-7" low at 200yds. it's a great gun. But good luck with what ever you get. -
I do hunt with a slug gun, it's my main gun for firearm season, but I also enjoy the muzzleloader and have gotten into the pistol set up. As far as power, a .44 mag at correct distance has more than enough power to harvest any deer and the .357 though more limited on distance than the .44 is still more than enough round. I realize that nither offers the impact of a 12g but thats like saying you shouldn't use a bow because it's slower than a bullet. it's all about shot placement, My question was if anyone had used a round that had good performance. The round I was using with proper shot placement at 75yds passed threw the animals off side shoulder and just didn't expand right. I do thank you for your controbution to the topic though. :disolve: Kris K.
-
I haven't shot a deer with it but my neighbor's 2 kids took their first deer with a .410 and both were shot under 50yds, and nither traveled over 40yds. I think this all goes back to shot placement. But I say YA

I think I read this right, you dont just get buck feaver but you shake when you are target practicing, I would say there are two things going on. One, are you holding your breath? if so stop, before you shoot make your self take a breath before you draw and once at full draw. Two, you might have your bow set too heavy. I am a big guy at 6'5", when I started bow hunting I was 6' and thought I could run at 70lbs but I couldn't controlle the weight. I dropped it to 50 sight in, PRACTICED alot to build muscle memory then turned it up by no more then 10lbs. before too long I had it at 70 and am super comfortable now. Best of luck, hope this helps.
