  1. Thats a fatty Wonder which one of those was the one that busted through the plot blind window to grab the corn?
  2. I was reading a post about making a mineral lick and part of the combination included a 50lb bag of ice cream salt. Is this something that you could buy at your local feed store or is actually a bulk food product. I am heading out to TSC today and I am going to look around for it regardless. Thanks
  3. Hello all, I have been shooting copper solids out of my 12 gauge Remington 870 rifled deer barrel for over 8 years. I like the fact that I can take a shot at a deer over a 100 yards away and know that the slug will have no trouble making it there while still providing ample power. I will say that I do not look forward to that punch I get when sighting in my shotgun every year. Call me a sissy if you want but copper solids pack a mighty kick. I have seen and read a little bit about copper solid managed recoil slugs and the reviews seem good. I was curious if anyone had any stories to back it up. I would really like to hear them. The reason I ask is because I bought a new scope for the shotty as I normally use iron sights. I would like to be able to put a few rounds through without flinching so that I know its accurate. Below is a review I read and it seems like they performed well. http://www.heartlandoutdoorsman.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=18750
  4. I had a Hoyt Magnatech and just recently sold it since my friend was selling his like new 2006 Hoyt Vtech. He went out and bought the new PSE X-Force. Anyways the Vtech is in really good condition, I know he took care of it. The cables were just replaced. There is a true glow three pin site on it. The bow needs to have a peep site and rest installed. I took the whisker biscuit off of my old bow as it is not even a year old. So that will just to be installed but the peep site will have to be purchased. I am pretty sure I need it to be set to my draw length. That is about all it needs. I guess I just want to know a good range in price for what it takes to do this. I feel like the prices are pretty steep at the shop I go to, although I trust their work. Any Ideas, I plan on buying new arrows to and I don't know if that will factor into them lowering their "setup" costs. I also don't think I need a tune up as the bow looks tip top and just had a new cable installed. I am thinking about buying the Beman MFX Team RealTree arrows. What do you think about set up cost? The reason I am asking is cause I am a college student, so price is definitely an issue. SET UP Purchase and install peep site. Install whisker biscuit. Set draw length.
  5. Do you happen to have a link or example of this, I can't really get a visual in my head of what you are referring to.
  6. Thats the one I have been looking at I have been interested in that one you have above with the foldback option...I was just wondering if that loop made any extra noise? Also have you shot it from both a loop and from the string? I just want to see if it shoots nicely from both. Thanks.
  7. well i know it is obvious that if you have a loop you will be using a release. But if you don't have a loop you could be a finger shooter. I want a release that can be used for both...shooting directly from a string and also from a loop. I have people from archery shops say, you don't want that release if you are not shooting from a loop. Therefore insinuating that some releases are strictly meant for loop shooters, and some are meant for both. I am looking how to make a distinction between the two.
  8. How do you know whether a release will be good for both string and loop shooting. I have heard people say you don't want that one if you aren't using a loop. I have also heard people say thats a good one for both string and loop shooting. Any idea?
  9. I just want to get some feedback on any of the Tru-Fire Hurricane Buckle releases. I know there are a few different models. The one I really want is the Tru-Fire Hurricane Buckle Foldback Release but I haven't found a deal yet. I need a release that can shoot from both string and loop. By the way does anyone know how to tell whether a release can be used for both string and loop???
  10. Either or, just looking for a good price on these items. Thanks
  11. I am looking for a Tru Fire Hurricane Buckle release or any other good release that can work both the string and the loop. I also am looking for a stabilizer for a compound bow.
  12. Hello, I have just recently gotten into bow hunting. And I am on a pretty low budget which doesn't seem to coincide nicely with this sport. I have taken my hoyt to a archery shop and they are doing what they can to get me fitted for it. But I still need things like a release, stabilizer, maybe a new case. I might not be able to shoot from a loop since the bow draw length will not go any shorter. Can anyone recommend a good site for maybe purchasing used or clearance items such as releases and stabilizers. Also do you recommend a release that will work for both a string shooter and a loop. And possibly recommend a stabilizer that is a decent price as well. I appreciate any advice on where to find good priced products. Thank you.
  13. Hey thanks a lot bulldawg and to my good friend Michigan Hunter. Those are some amazing tips. I have always been curious about different colors but when I am in the store I kind of just go with what has worked. When it doesn't I just assume that its a bad day. Maybe thats my problem. The stinger hooks sound like a good jig setup for minnow, I will definitely have to pick some of those up. Thanks again
  14. I have pretty good luck jigging for walleye with my current set up but it doesn't always work. I usually set up a black or gold jig head with matching body. Then I hook the minnow through the chin and up through the nostrils. A lot of times it gets taken with out me knowing. Sometimes I try the back below the middle fin but it seems to kill the minnow. Any suggestions on color of jig heads and where to hook em? Also I bought some black and gold gulp jig bodies. I was using the black jig bodies with a black head. My buddy was using an identical setup except with a plastic body instead of gulp bait. He was catching them left and right and I had no bites on the same boat. Has anyone else experienced this with gulp bait? Any jigging setup ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
