  1. Seriously? It is not that much work to go out once a week and dump a pile of corn. Then, place a stand convenient to the routine pile location well ahead of season. Then, put out trail cams to mark when deer visit the pile. Then, show up well ahead of time that deer visit pile and shoot said deer when they arrive for their daily feed. It's akin to hunting cattle. They come to the same spot to feed, all you gotta do is show up early and not spook them. Fair chase is patterning them as opposed to establishing the pattern for them. Can you honestly admit that you are equally successful without baiting? If you are going to say that then you will have to admit there is MUCH more effort exerted in patterning and locating deer without a bait pile. Just another dose of my $0.02.
  2. I hear ya. It is legal and that's why I am not outraged. Sure, you still have to do some work. However, I can guarantee myself success if I were allowed to bait. A more fair comparison...roboducks (spinning wing decoys) While they have lost a bit of their luster, I have seen first hand the difference of hunting with and without them. Unfair chase? no, they are legal for now. However, I feel it unfair to use them...but that's just me I reckon. To each his own. None of you or the pros are looking for my respect...so do what makes you feel best.
  3. Hey, if it's legal and a feller needs to bait in order to score...go for it. It's kinda like fishing with dynomite...a hand ain't got the skills to run fishing pole well enough to boat some fish...go buy 'em at the store or use dynomite. Crutch it up...it's legal...
  4. Directly north of H.S. Lake.
  5. It is true, espcially for Pike County. I do have a buddy who owns a little bit of ground up there. We get allot of non-resident outfitters buying it up and High Dollar Chicagoans willing to pay to hunt it... BTW Randyman...we are practically neighbors!
  6. Lets see... Decoys: Yes, one species is fine. Go with Mallards. If you are carrying them in or taking a layout boat then you may want to go with water-keel decoys as they are lighter. Call: Go with a quality double reed. Double reeds are more forgiving than singles. Get a tape of video and learn how to call correctly. I agree with the earlier post in that, "no calling is better than bad calling." Missouri: Missouri does a super job on their public areas. The KC area has a few very good areas. Look here: http://mdc.mo.gov/hunt/wtrfowl/reserve/arealoc.htm Hope that helps, good luck.
  7. If it's not too late, don't do it. My buddy heard the same story about it bing just like the Benelli but manufactured in Turkey. What they didn't say was that it was actually put together by Turkeys! It has been a bad gun for him. In the shop 2 times the first season he had it. You will get what you pay for. You want a Benelli, get a Benelli.
  8. Other than being ugly, they're good guns. However, no one will outdo the lasting performance of the Remington 870 Wingmaster. IMHO...
