Hey guys I got a question hopefully someone can answer. I own a weatherby vanguard sub-moa and need a leupold mark 4 1 piece base for it. Does anyone know which one I should get, I dont see any of them made for weatheby but im thinkin a remington 700 has the same screw spacing... Please help.

Very interesting and still complex but flawless setup there, most impressive. As for me Potash, depending on what time of year you will mostly use your .223 wssm sighting it in in the cold could be what you need, my new .22-250 is sighted in for dead on at 200 yards at 10 degrees above zero. It is a coyote gun after all and theyre only worth something in the cold times of the year.

I havent used the E-tips but I do know some of their 30 caliber bullet ballistic coefficients are insane, upwards of .500 as far as barnes its all I use and I reload so it dont matter much to me price wise.

I have had my bowtech 82nd airborne for 4 months now and love it. Bowtech all the way

Yeah what he said... and I couldnt find the 50, thanks for saying its local..... HAHA

I've never had this problem since when I tried shooting accubonds a year ago, they didnt group under 2.5inches so I have been using barnes TsXs since and havent had a problem ever.

That looks like ALOT of fun, if the drive wasnt 500 miles I would make it on a regular basis.

My step-father and I have used it for about a year now and yes it works. The spots we've set up with it have always had deer on the trail cameras eating it.And gotta say ... it tastes like oats. Haha

Thank you for clearing the draw length up, all in all its about consistancy not speed and I understand the IBO speed is not something thats truly attainable in most scenarios but I do realize that with the same draw length and draw weight, the two bows setup the same except that all bows are directly proportional to their speed if their setup is the same. Again thank you for the comment on my rig and I dont mean to be pushy or to be asking too much, just looking for answers.

I understand that dead is dead, I Just thought it would make sense that a speed bow should be faster. The reason i was shooting 7595's was because the guy at Scheels gave them to me after i decided what arrow i wanted, I didn't realize i was shooting 7595s til a few days later. I was thinking that the arrow i was shooting being 400grains + the tip would be 500 grains, and that just seemed a little heavy. And I had another question, does a shorter draw increase speed, I just had mine adjusted again it was a little long.
-
Thank you for the help, cleared alot up. I was thinking 5575's would be much better. Any other opinions out there? What difference would a 350 grain arrow make from a 400grain, FPS wise?

Hi everyone, I just bought my first new bow since the day my dad gave me his back in 2000. Its a Bowtech 82nd Airborne. I got it all setup at the local scheels, whisker biscuit, peep etc. We shot it threw the chrono at a 28" draw and 64lbs and its only shooting 291-292fps, the arrows im using are 400gr 7595 Goldtip Hunter expeditions. The IBO speed for the bow is 350... and Im trying to optimize the speed of the bow sinces thats what it is. I hunt whitetail with this bow, whats the lightest i should go with arrow wise and is .006 straightness obviously less accurate than more truly straight arrows? Help! Thanks.

Ya new trucks are great too.

Heh I was like sheesh way to jump all over me guys...

To answer the OP's question, yes some short mag calibers are better and some are worse and the ones that are worse are only truly worse because of cost not performance.
-
I mentioned the bullet drop for simply stating the trajectory and for those people that might like to shoot their guns at targets. You never make a shot you dont take and I would feel alot more confident with the .270 wsm at ranges beyond 350yards then i would a standard .270. As for the 223 wssm you cant dispute the difference, its just that phenomenally huge.
-
Well I wouldnt be so quick to say they're ballisticly the same guys. According to federal firearms ballistic programs with their premium ammo the difference in velocity with my .270 WSM is huge compared to the .270 standard. .270 WSM 130gr Nosler Ballistic tip = 3300 FPS /3140 ME and -32.2in low at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero. .270 standard 130gr Nosler Ballistic tip = 3060 FPS / 2704 ME and -38.4inches low at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero. Now with a deer at full run Id rather point and click with the velocity difference. Also.... .223 WSSM 36gr Barnes Varmint Grenade ~4500Fps maxed loaded. .223 standard 36gr Barnes Varmint Grenade ~3850Fps max loaded. The differences are quite clear for certain calibers you decide whether you'd like to pay more for more performance.

http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_700/model_700_SPS_varmint.asp Great gun... tack driver and really not that expensive. Plus its a 700.
-
The .243 was my first thought. Before even reading haha. I used a .243 to take big bodied deer up here in North Dakota for my first 3 deer seasons and it works great. Also to be considered one of THEE best all-around game cartridges.
-
If I were to choose, Id go with a savage LE series, but thats a totally different caliber BUT it comes free floated heavy barreled with all the tack-driving goodies for very little money.
-
Haha nothing like a good ol cheapie box of ultramax to blow stuff up with for less than a quarter a shot.
-
AR's do weight alot, mine scoped with a bipod and 10 rounds weights bout 10 pounds but im big enough to handle it no problem.
-
Im thinking the reason that some of the guns rattle is because the buffer spring in the stock is literally in there and isnt constrained so it may rattle somewhat. Mine doesnt. DPMS is cheaper but their products arent low quality from what ive heard, experienced and read, some say theyre much better actually. I cant find the link but the guy has several schools and said DPMS is best of the best for precision shooting and how to go about it.
