  1. I think African Americans keep racism going. If they would just let it all go and accept everything as being equal most of this would not happen. White people are not to blame.
  2. The EPA is the big reason that we cant drill here in the U.S. Alot of this is their fault. It also makes me mad that we pump millions of gallons of oil out of Alaska and sell it to Japan. We need it right HERE. But the oil companies are greedy and they know they can make more money selling it elsewhere.
  3. Never used camo arrows cause they usually cost more and they are harder to find. Doubt there is much difference in speed though.
  4. Im thinking about reloading some .308 rounds for my new rifle. I have to buy the dies and my material and I was wondering how many grains are in 1lb of powder. I want to know so I can figure out how many reloads I can do per pound of powder. Im going to figure out how much it costs to reload and see if I can save any money.
  5. OK, sounds like that might work but where would I be hitting at say 50 yards? Where I hunt I could have a deer at 20 yards or 200 yards and everywhere in between, so I would like to be a ble to shoot all those distances and know where Im gonna hit.
  6. It looks like we might have a decent year here. There were 3 or 4 decent bucks on our farm last year and Im pretty sure they all made it through. I saw three different bucks about three or four days ago in our hayfield and two of them were really nice deer. Got one picture of a buck on the trail cam, a NICE 8 pointer. Ive got a couple small food plots that are up pretty good but we need some rain bad.

Hey, welcome to the forums. This is a great place to find good information. What part of Kentucky are you from. Im about 50 miles south of Louisville.
  8. I just bought a Stevens model 200 in .308 a couple weeks ago and I was just wondering what you guys think about this rifle. Is it fairly accurate? I love the way it shoots but I havnt put it on the bench yet to really see what it can do. Another question I have is about the .308 caliber. I noticed when I was shooting the other day that to hit relativley close at 100 yards I had to hit about an inch and a half low at 50. What will the trajectory be out to 150 yards? I really dont know how to sight in because where I deer hunt I could have shots from 40 yards all the way to 200. I was shooting 180 grain bullets. Can anybody give me some advice?
  9. Your kinetic energy is plenty for deer. In fact, it is good enough for elk or caribou, and 283 fps will blow right through a deer. I think you would be alright with your arrow weight but not for sure. Maybe use a 125 grain head to raise arrow weight, and it wont change your point of impact to much.
  10. We put a pipe in the dam on our water hole so the water just barely runs through it and over the hill. This keeps the water moving to keep it fresher but it also keeps it from running over the dam and washing it out. The banks leading down to the water are moss covered or big flat rocks. The immediate surrounding area is extremely thick except to one side where there is a small food plot. You could do something similiar with the pipe and then clean the area around the water of tall grass and brush.
  11. Sounds great. You cant beat a Rem. 700 in my opinion. Im looking at a Stevens chambered in .308 myself. Great all-around caliber.
  12. I think that would work well. We have a natural spring on our farm in the middle of the woods and we dug out the spring this summer. Now we have a little water hole about five foot long and four feet wide and about two feet deep. Then we cleared an area about 30x30 feet to plant a fall food plot beside the water. My brother is gonna hang a stand over it for bowhunting. I would think it would be worth the trouble for you to do that. Even during the rut, bucks will need water while chasing does.
  13. I was thinking about doing some helical blazers this year and I wanted to know if you can shoot helical vanes through a whisker biscuit or would they cause to much drag and mess it up? Any extra noise also?
  14. Shooting a deer at 600 yards is not only unsportsman like, it would be kinda boring. I hunt to enjoy myself, and part of the enjoyment is the adrenaline rush I get when Im close to the animal I pursue. That is why I like to get as close as possible to the deer. Killing one that far would not excite me at all. I can set here in my chair and look out the window and watch deer in the hay field at 350 yards and its nice but not exciting unless maybe its a monster buck. A really good, experienced, avid deer hunter does not take 600 yard shots. Only an, unethical, want-a-good-story-to-tell person takes a 600 yard shot in my opinion.
  15. Ok, everyone Im sure knows about the Supreme Courts recent ruling about how the Constitution supports our rights to keep and bear arms. This is great, and I was really excited when I heard about this. Well, tonight I was watching the local news and in response to the supreme courts ruling, a preacher and some others are having a Gun Buy Back right here in Louisville. They disagree with the courts ruling and say they want to get as many guns off the street as possible. They are paying $25 to $30 per gun to anyone who wants to get rid of them. Im not sure what they are going to do with all these guns but my guess is distroy them. I wish I could go up there and buy these guns, and Id pay more for them. At least they would be used. It makes me sick to see these guns wasted like this, and viewed like they are instruments of evil:(. Sorry for the long post but I needed to vent!
  16. Finally, somebody caught on to what I was asking. Baiting is food attractant. Ive never heard of a state making the use of calls illegal.
  17. I was looking at some rifles today on the internet and it said that they have Button-Rifled barrels. I dont keep up with all these terms so could someone explain to me what this is and what the advantages of it are. Never heard of it before.
  18. Looked at this rifle today at wal-mart. Price was $325. Comes with a Bushnell scope on it. Wondered if anyone has shot this rifle and is it worth the money? I heard that it is just a model 710 with a few upgrades. The bolt felt kinda stiff but other than that I liked it. What do you all think about the 770?
  19. Does anyone know anything about these? Im thinking about trying some this year but Im not sure they will work as well as blazers would. Also wondering if you can shoot them through a whisker biscuit? They dont have the kicker on them like the Quickspins do but they have the micro-grooves. Any one have advice?
  20. Anyone tried these broadheads? I think they are made by New Archery Products. Im looking at trying these this year, just wondering if anyone had experience with these heads.
  21. Im looking to buy a new deer hunting rifle and I have narrowed it down between two calibers but I dont know which one to go with. Im looking at a .25-06, or .308. I have never shot either one of these but I have seen deer shot with both. Most of my shots are 250 yards or less. Which one has the most recoil, more accuracy, and more knock down power on whitetails? Which one do you think would be the best overall choice?
  22. You guys are thinking too hard about this. I simply stated FOOD ATTRACTANTS for the deer to EAT. Calls have nothing to do with eating. Decoys dont either. Think food... whether it smells like food... or is food for the deer. This is what I wanted to know. Im not against baiting either. I just dont do it. I just wanted to know how many of you did.
  23. I think that this is an extremely sad accident that could have been prevented, but to press charges for vehicular manslaughter is rediculous. Dont you think the parents of these children are in enough pain and sadness already? There is nothing you could legally do to punish them that would make them regret their choices more than they already do. To try to do that would be uncaring and cruel IMO.
  24. Im only talking about food attractants, not calls. I dont consider using food plots as baiting either. I consider baiting to mean, taking something out into the woods that would not naturally occur in that area, and placing it there to attract the deer to eat. Examples... Corn piles, C'mere Deer, apples, oats ect. I use calls, and food plots but I dont BAIT deer, even though it is legal in Kentucky.
  25. Not real sure. If where you want to cut the arrows to are behind the inserts you could just cut the arrow to the desired length and put new inserts in them. All my inserts in my arrows are less than an inch long, but if your's are not then I dont know if you can remove them or not.
