A contest of some sort could be interesting, I agree. Just for fun, maybe. -

Do you know anyone who has made it in the pros?
michiganbowbender replied to craig mack's topic in NASCAR and Sports
Had the opportunity to play softball one summer in Lansing, Michigan with Earvin "Magic" Johnson while he was playing BBall at Michigan State. Most will remember him with the L.A. Lakers. -
Mine ain't broke either, but I'm still gonna make it look more realistic. Ordered mine today, but 3 week backorder at Cabelas currently.

Their wasn't much doubt in my mind it was a P41. I have two P41's, both with the Snapshot Sniper boards. Love em.

I was somewhat surprised with the bobcat pic. Pretty rare to see one around here. Without the trailcam, I would not have known it was around. Pleasant surprise. -
Loose powder vs. Pyrodex Pellets
michiganbowbender replied to Bowtech_archer07's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
Well said, it can make a difference, and sometimes a huge difference. The difference could be between a hit or miss, or worse yet, a wounded and possibly unrecovered animal. -
Wounded fawn, One eyed deer, Rabbit, Racoon....
michiganbowbender replied to slughunter's topic in Photography & Video
Slughunter, I am saying it is a very good and honorable thing you are doing. The animals need all the help they can get this time of year and it is a great thing you are doing. Only wish I could do the same thing here without facing legal ramifications. Keep up your effort. -

Looks like the animals appreciate what you are doing for them. Good for you. We can't do any supplemental feeding in Michigan after the deer hunting seasons are over, with one exception. You can "maintain, but not exceed", 2 gals total, of any kind of feed, for "recreational viewing purposes" as defined by our DNR. It must be with 100 yards of your house and spread over a 10 foot by 10 foot area.No "piles". Food plots are not considered to be feeding, so are not affected. We have had cases of Bovine Tuberculosis in some areas of the state. It is thought to be spread by close "nose to nose" contact, thus the law. -

Beautiful pics. Surprised you caught the bobcat in the daylight like you did. Must have been hungry and on a hunting foray. -

Loose powder vs. Pyrodex Pellets
michiganbowbender replied to Bowtech_archer07's topic in Bluelk's Muzzleloader Room
If you want to work up a load for accuracy, then loose powder may be your best bet. 5 grains can make a huge difference. Most think they have to shoot too many grains when in reality many would do better with 80-90 grains powder, especially if using 777. You have to find out what your rifle/bullet likes best. You might be right on with 100 grains and pellets would be fine. But if things get finicky, then you can do a lot more with loose powder if utmost accuracy is your goal. -
SuperKirby, here's a link that has a lot of great info about powerbelts, conicals etc. There is a fellow on there that goes by the name of Indiana SmokePole.Register and send him a pm. Tell him Don in Michigan sent ya. He has a KRB and many others, and is loaded with info he is willing to share concerning sabots or conical shooting with the KRB .Great guy, his name is Ron and I spent at least an hour on the phone with him. He can also set you up with some conicals at a reasonable price to try without buying a bunch if you wish, I got some from him. Bullshop 460 grain .504 diam and Bullshop 443 grain UC Shorts. I will be using a .510 wad over 75-85 grains of 777 ff powder and Win T7 primers. I also have been told that Hornaday Great Plains Bullets in 385 grains are good shooters in the KRB. I also have some of those to try. I will also be trying the TC 250 gr.Shockwave Superglides with the yellow sabots.Heres the link, lots of good reading there. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tt.aspx?forumid=26

I was using 85 grains of 777 which was what the Encore wanted. It was 45 cal and I shot 275 grain powerbelts. Very accurate combination, but I never had a pass thru, hence no exit hole. They were deadly on deer as they expended all there energy inside the animal, which did massive damage internally. Some dropped on the spot, but of those that did not, a blood trail was most times non existent. I'm kinda anal about an exit hole, being a hardcore bowhunter. Makes recovery much easier.

Will do. Just waiting for the weather to cooperate. I will be trying some lead conicals with about 75-85 grains of 777 first, and some sabots. I have been told it is a great conical shooting rifle. I had an Encore but sold it because the best groups I could get were with Powerbelts, and after taking 10 deer with them I decided Powerbelts were not for me.They grouped excellent and very easy to load, but no bloodtrails.

Took 2 bucks from a different area altogether. As far as I know these bucks are still around. I had one of the larger bucks within bow range once, but did not feel comfortable with the angle.Another of the big guys came thru just outside of my bow range following a doe and I just got a quicker heartbeat out of the deal. That's ok.Something to look forward to this season. -

3 inch for me. I can only see putting the hurt on one end of the 12 gauge.
