1. Im in the market for a pistol and some one told me about the smith and wesson mp 40 and wanted to know if anyone else has had any experience with the gun? thanks a lot
2. Its just too bad you dont have any mature deer to take photos of... Ha ha those are some nice bucks and nice pics. good luck on the new camera
3. Where did you find that the wisconsin deer herd is down 50% from last year? everything i've read shows a healthy population of deer. Actually higher than established population goals for most of the state. Also didnt parts of wisconsin have record snow fall last year? When you have an unusually hard winter, cwd zones, DEZ's, over a half million deer harvested by hunters last year do you expect to have record high deer numbers? You have to think about it this way... In wisconsin hunters kill over 500,000 deer a year, cars kill or wound over 45,000 a year, and wolves only eat between 9,000 and 10,000 deer a year. A LARGE number of the deer wolves eat are killed by cars, winter stress or wounded deer that would not survive the winter. Im from minnseota and we have 2 time as many wolves as wisconsin and michigan combined so im not sure how you can put your "50%" decrease in the deer population on the back of the wolf? I guess im a little confused, I thought these forums were made for everyone to voice an opinion right or wrong. Not to have someone tell them their opinion does'nt matter.

when?

Anyone still have the november issue of field and stream from last year? In it was a calendar of the rut for last year... It was loaded with information on what works best when as far as decoys rattlin and grunting. It told you things to key in on and things to stay away from. It was great, I sure hope they do it again this year!

when?

When is a good time to start crackin the horns together way up north?
6. Im trying to get into muskie fishing and wanted to know if you could pick 5 muskie baits for casting what would they be and in what colors?
7. So about a month ago I set out my trail camera on a heavily used trail near my uncles hunting shack. I checked it over labor day weekend and found almost 500 photos of does, small bucks, coons, and a bear cub, but no mature bucks! Not even close. The biggest buck I got was a small fork horn. Now I know this is the time when bucks are still together and doing the same thing day in and day out so maybe I put the camera in a spot the bigger bucks in the area dont use this time of year. What are the chances they start using this trail come october? I hunt in northern Minnesota where it is hard to pattern deer. Anyone who hunts in the big woods of the north that could help me out I would appreciate it a lot.
8. thanks Thank you so much... That helps a lot!
9. I got a phone call from my brother in law today telling me to go over to Gander Mountain and fill out my application for the Minnesota fall turkey season. I've always wanted to try and take a turkey with my bow and now I have a chance! The only problem is I dont know one thing about turkey hunting. So I'm looking for a little help here. If I do get drawn I will be hunting on a private farm with birds all over the place. Do turkey come to decoys and calls in the fall? That might be a stupid question but I really have no idea.... so any help I could get as far as what kind of broadheads, calls, decoys, blinds, camo, time of day anything you can give me to make what I hope turns out to be my first turkey hunt a success... Thanks from Minnesota
10. Last year I got a longbow for my birthday so I went Gander Mountain and bought the cheapest arrows I could find. Now that ive gotten somewhat accurate with it I would like to get some new arrows but I dont have a clue what to get. Im shooting 55# draw should I use carbons or aluminums?
11. I have fished for a couple of years with big bucktails and swimbaits trying to catch myself a big pike, well it's finally my turn to brag! This last Memorial Day I went up to my buddies grandparents place near Brainerd, MN fishing for some bass and big pan fish. I was using a #2 mepps spinner when I got a huge hit. Good thing we took out the pontoon that afternoon because for 45 minutes this fish ran me in circles around the boat. Anyways the scale read 16.3 right before the batteries died so im not sure exactly how much it weighed but all I Know is I got to fight this monster on light tackle with no leader for 45 minutes. Its something I will never forget.
12. Hey guys, I purchased a brand new T/C omega this last fall so I can start hunting all three seasons archery, rifle, and muzzle loader. I also would like for my girlfriend to hunt all three seasons but that would mean buying another gun. I have wanted the new T/C pro hunter for a while now and I was just on their web page checking it out when I noticed they have an even newer gun out, the ENCORE ENDEAVOR. Just wanted to know if anyone knows musch about it or has shot it? thanks
13. The top water Original Zara Spook may not always be the most productive bait in my tackle box but when fish are hitting top water it's one of the most exciting lures i've found for pike, bass(large mouth and small mouth) I have even caught large blugills. Another awsome bait for heavy cover is the Nemire Spoon Buzzer.
14. BATTERIES! Seems to me that when ever I go out of town on a fishing or hunting trip something of mine runs low on batteries. Everything from deep cycle to batteries used for some archery sights. I'm sure you've thought of this already but just wanted to make sure.
15. thanks Thanks shaun what is your main fish you go after in canada?

Fish photos

Just looking over some of my fishing pictures for last summer while I wait for the fishing opener. Here was my first bass double on a Zara Spook!
17. spike My cousin Dropped a mature deer one year only to walk up to it and find 14 inch spikes. We guessed the deer to be around 3 1/2 years old or older. In the article by Dr. Kroll it said something about deer start showing their potential at age 3. I hunt northern Minnesota and for a deer that age with only spikes I gotta say dont think he was going to be much more than a spike. I know that once a spike always a spike IS'NT true but I have to say i'm glad that deer got taken out of the gene pool!
18. Im 6'3" and only 170# on a good day... I use a remington 300 ultra mag and i have no problems shooting the gun. Also my girlfriend shoots a 7mm mag with great ease and she is a small girl. I think you will love that gun
19. thanks Hey guys... Thanks for all your input. I have spent hours and hours looking for this guy's sheds as well as the 8 or 9 other bucks I have photos of in the area but its hard because there are so many small stretches of trees that cut through peoples yards and no need to make anyone mad. Ive tried to get permission to hunt within the city but it seems the people I need to get the permission from are all anti hunters. I know of hunts that go on within city limits done by small goups of hunters but they are in parks that im not interested in hunting. I will continue my search but my gut tells me someone beat me to them, thats the problem with public land in a big city. Thanks again and fall can't come soon enough- dan
20. Hey guys and gals I need help with two things... First things first, I have photos of two deer taken 1 year apart both within a mile or so. I have spent hours looking at the 30 photos I have of both deer and there are a couple of things they both have in common. Im not sure if a deer that has a non-typical rack one year can have a typical rack the next. Im thinking that the abnormality of the right side could have been caused by the wound on his back left leg( you can see it in the photos) and both deer have it. I have read that that can cause a non typical rack. Both of the photos are taken in a big city where there is no hunting so Im glad to say I may get many more photos in the years to come. Let me know if you think I have two big boys running around or if you think im correct and they are the same deer. Also how big do you think he would score... Looks to me like he's a main framed 11 with a small kicker off his left g-3 to make him a 12 pointer. Im not sure how he'd score so if you could help me out that would be great.....Thanks
