Where was the dream team on this one? I never saw a trial with so much evidence as when he killed his wife. Those attorneys made a mockery of the system. Have a nice time in jail O.J.

I was told if left untreated it will clear up in two weeks. If you seek treatment then it will only take 14 days. Sorry, I have no tips. Good luck, it's nasty.

The local newspaper sports reporter has agreed to post an article. I will keep you all posted. Thanks for the replies. As for the arrow "guesses", not quite!! Nice try though LOL.

Nice doe. Good job. Northern Indiana ha - Colts fan?? Hope so. Deer hunting and the Colts - two of my favorite things!

Guess that's why it's called hunting. I say stick it out. Maybe your scent is keeping them away. Who really knows. If the trails are being used heavily at night then the deer are still in the area. Sounds like it might be a good spot when the bucks start searching out those does.

When fishing with my son I used to tell him he would increase his odds by 100% if he'd cast that lure out in the water instead of just sitting in the boat complaining about not catching fish. I feel the same way about hunting. If you only have a short time to spend in the woods it is better than no time at all. I wish I had a place close to home to just spend an hour or so in a stand. I lost that spot a couple years ago when the "new" landowner made short work of the hard earned permission I once had to hunt the land. My advice - if you have two hours to hunt, hunt for two hours. If you have ten hours to hunt, hunt ten hours. Good luck to you!! LOL on the sick day comment!! We should get sick days, personal days and hunting days...

I did think about mounting this. After I found it I kept it in the garage a couple days deciding what to do. It stunk bad so I decided to just cut the rack off. Then I have been thinking about using another cape to do a mount just out of respect for this deer. I just don't have the $400.00 for a mount right now. The nearest Bass Pro is 1 1/2 hours away but there is a local Gander Mountain. I never asked if they are interested or not. We'll see what happens. I actually thought of putting up a flyer or two in the area I hunt but I am thinking it will attract a lot of people trying to claim what isn't theirs.

I guess it happens to all of us. My motivation to find the hunter who shot this deer is simple. We all hate the feeling of losing a deer, big or small. The feeling can be worse though when we know it is a large deer. I hope to ease that hunters pain by returning what is his/hers. I got the pics to post this time. The inside spread is about 15 inches but the rack is tall with a lot of character. I'm thinking about contacting the local paper's outdoor writer. By the way the girth of the bases is 5 inches. I'm thinking 4 1/2 years old. Maybe not.

I see what I am doing wrong. The file sizes are to big. I'll do this again. O.K. This stinks. I just re-did them and they are still too big.....

My pics are not loading. I must be doing something wrong.

I love the replies. You guys really made me laugh. I even think this is a trophy in Illinois. Just my opinion. This is the biggest deer I have ever seen in the wild. I saw one big eight pointer years ago. I threw three Remington copper solids at him, which didn't really have any effect. Probably went three feet over his back! Unfortunately for that deer he ran straight to one of my partners who dropped him with one shot. I found this deer because I saw an odd color off in the distance. I looked through my binocs and saw it was an arrow sticking in the ground. I walked about 60 yards over to it and then jumped when I saw the deer lying there on the ground, arrow still in it. I thought it was alive at first. Anyways, here are the pics. It has a busted brow tine. The rack isn't all that wide, about 15 inches, but is tall. Longest G 2 is about 9 inches. Rack has some stickers to. When I looked him over real good his hooves were really worn. Maybe he was from Illinois! You are a little off on the arrow though

Actually I made that whole story up!! Thanks for reading. Just kidding. I will post pics of the rack tonight. I have to figure out how to do it. I will only be able to post pics of the rack, but when I found it I took pics of the rack with head. Those I took with a 35 mm. Tonight I will use my digital. I'm not all that concerned with telling where I found this as it is a big piece of land, with many hunters to begin with. There are big deer on all pieces of state land. You just have to be willing to hunt hard. A little luck helps to..

Near Erieville, it is the Tioughnioga Wildlife Management Area. I also hunt Brookfield and the day I found this deer was my first time hunting Tio.

I've been reading how several people in the forums here have lost deer and how that makes them feel. I have been hunting since I was 16 and am currently hunting in my 23rd. season. I to know that feeling of losing a deer. I've lost two in 23 years. One I know was harvested by another hunter, the other was a 4 point buck I never found. This is the main reason for my post - Two years ago I was hunting in an area of state land in western Madison County, NY. It was the second week of shotgun season (end of November) and I found a very large dead buck. It had an arrow in it and was dead for at least a couple weeks. Back legs were eaten, eyes rotted/eaten, insect activity etc.. I called the DEC and obtained permission to keep the head and antlers as I innocently acquired the deer. This deer to me is a deer of a lifetime. I figured I would try to figure out who shot this deer and then give him/her the antlers. I have the arrow (it was still in the deer) so I know the arrow brand, length, shaft size, and if it's carbon, aluminum, or wood. I obviously know the fletching colors and brand, type and weight of the broadhead. If someone out there shot a buck in this area and can describe the area and arrow I will give the antlers to them in a heartbeat. I know of no other way to find out who the hunter was. I truly love to look at these antlers but I obviously didn't harvest it, so it doesn't mean as much to me as it would to the person who shot it. If I shot that deer I would still be in the woods looking for it!! Hopefull someone out there reads this and can point me in the right direction to the rightful owner. I know the chances are slim. I have spoken to numerous hunters in that specific area and nobody mentions losing a big deer. Who knows. I am careful as to what I say as I don't want someone to lay claim to this deer if it wasn't theirs. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I now have some decisions to make.

I think you should see if there are any deer search programs in your area. They usually use a breed of dachshunds to help track the deer. In central NY where I live I know you can get someone to help you out. They are volunteers and accept donations. Try it out if you haven't. I would if I were you. Make sure it is legal to do this where you hunt. Good luck. Don't give up.

Hello, I am looking for a decent value in a drop away rest for my 14 year old son who is shooting a Diamond Edge at 42 pounds. I noticed a QAD drop away Ultra Rest for about 40.00. I know you get what you pay for but am wondering if anyone has any opinions on this rest. I am also thinking about a Whisker Buiscuit. His prong rest shoots fine but we don't want to have to worry about the arrow falling off the rest during a hunt. Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated. Scott

Did you check the "Blue Book of Gun Values"? It has helped me narrow down what type of model a certain gun is.

Need slug/sabot ammo recomendation for my rem 870
stcif replied to Shutter's topic in Shotguns & Accessories
I shoot a Remington 870 12 gauge with a 2x7x33 Leupold shotgun scope and a Hastings rifled barrel. I shoot only Lightfield hybred EXP sabot slugs as they are quite accurate, and also 1 1/4 ounce. I've said this before, the deer doesn't know what hit them. A Hornady isn't going to kill the deer much quicker than the Federal if shot in the same place. The Winchester isn't going to really outdo the Remington Buckhammer if both rounds double lung the deer. I can go on and on. Try a few brands. Shoot what is most accurate and make a good shot. No matter the brand, if you do your part, the deer won't go too far. Oh, as for the prices of ammo now, it is through the roof and out of control. I used to get the Lightfields a few years ago for 6.99 a box. Now they are 15.00. Crazy. Good luck. -
Yup, I'll agree that was a long post. I read every word. Well worth the read. I agree 100%. The reality is this. Shot placement is everything. As I wrote, I just got back into shooting archery. I am an avid gun hunter. I read about this bullet and that bullet. I wonder if this bullet is worth the money etc... I hunt with a guy who shoots bullets that cost a third of what I do. My father used to tell me the deer doesn't know what bullet hit him. You need to put it in the right place! I am not saying some equipment isn't better than others just sometimes I get a little too wrapped up in the hype of this product or that product. That's what makes this sport fun though. As for practice, my son shoots a lot. Sometimes three times a day. His friend shoots with him and since they shoot so much I shoot a lot now to. I have never shot this much and owe it to my son for getting me out there. Thanks for more good advice.

Thanks. I was so impressed with my son's Diamond Edge that I bought a leftover 2007 Diamond liberty. It's hard to believe, but it shoots a little better than my Stratoflight I bought in 1987.

Thanks for replies. He practices a lot and hopefully he even gets a shot this season. Then if the shot presents itself, I will hope he doesn't hit the shoulder! Good huntin' to you all.

Hello, I am new here and recently back into archery. Last Christmas I bought my 13 year old son a Diamond Edge bow. He has it set at about 40 - 42 pounds, 22.5" draw length. He is shooting Carbon Express arrows (don't know exact length or weight). I chronographed these arrows at about 189 fps. I am wondering if this is adequate for whitetail deer. I recently purchased a set of Wasp bullet broadheads, fixed blade, 75 grain. I am very impressed with the quality of this bow and believe this should be adequate to take a whitetail considering my old PSE Stratoflight killed deer, and shot slower. I realize speed isn't the only factor but I'm thinking this Diamond will produce enough energy to kill deer. I am concerned though if he strikes a shoulder bone or something like that. Any professional opinions would be appreciated. Thanks - Scott
