  1. my dad has one that he got from his grandfather from way back in a 30-06 and its still working great. he had the stock re-done but it looks exactly like the new remington 750 on there website. ive never seen a bad shot with the gun.
  2. those wraps looks freakin sweet man. they should take your idea and make the wrap with a right helical already in it . like they do now except without the straight fletching.
  3. just a quick question. with the blazer vane wraps that have the vanes with the tiger stripes right with them, can you have them put in right helical? or do you have to buy a wrap and vanes separate and do it that way they look like they just come already on the wrap in a straight fletch.
  4. haha that movie is great. the skirt makes the whole picture
  5. get some under armor cold gear. then on top of that, get the insulated jeans from cabelas. you can get them with flannel or fleece lining and even with gore-tex. they work great if your gunna be up in a stand for the whole day or the early morning. i just ordered a pair and my dad has had them for the past two years and has yet to get cold. i cant get the link but there by cabelas and there called roughneck relaxed fit denim jeans-flannel (or if its fleece itll say)
  6. alright, alright guys lets calm it down. we all know the story and even though it was legal, it was still a risky shot considering the light fading fast. lets just put it all behind. this is whitetail hunting, not a debate:).
  7. have to agree with the shrink wrapped chain. my dads wrapping on his came off and i had to climb with it the other day. man what a difference that wrapping makes comparing my climber to his. another thing that gets me on edge is when you think the teeth are locked into the tree, but then you put pressure on the sides and the one set of teeth comes off the tree so really only the one side is locked in. when your 15 or 20 feet up, that will give you a nice jump in the morning.
  8. thats a shame. youll have other chances but that will leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. just remember that you made a good shot and it was just a weird situation. dont get down on yourself too hard about it!
  9. id have to agree with waiting a little longer. 40 yards is a ways but it sounds like you smoked him . maybe go back and look for him and follow the trail again. that is weird that you had such good blood but no recovery. good luck with whatever happens.
  10. the silhouette was not a true judgment on my part. the deer was at 5:30, now 4:30 with daylight savings. i will admit that part was a misjudgment in terms of how well i could see. if it was too dark too shoot, i wouldn't and i know when that time is. the shot was double lung, and if someone can hit that when its dark then im amazed. when i got down from the tree, thats when it was truly dark to the point where it wouldve been unethical
  11. i was not spotlighting deer, and the sun hadnt even gone down past the tree line.i could clearly see the deer, the antlers, and the vitals. if you look outside around 4:15 ro 4:30 it is still light out. i am not some cheating, unethical, disrespectful hunter. look outside your window around 4:30 folks. i have seen shots on Monster Buck movies when the sun was actually gone from the sky. is the G5 Meta Peep easier to see through in cloudy/fading light conditions? if so ill switch to it but it was plenty light for a good shot. i am not some unethical, disrespectful hunter. i know what is a good shot and a bad shot, and i have respect for these animals. if you still have a problem with this, or with me, send me a message. thank you.
  12. well i flew home from class and got up in my tree around 3:00 hoping to atleast see a deer. i havent even gotten a glimpse of one since two weeks ago and lastnight wasnt looking good. around 5:15 i heard some walking right out in front of my tree and sure enough at 5:30 here comes a deer. it was right at dark, but i could make out some headgear on the deer. he came right in and took a hard left and turned broadside to me, but not before he stared at the light on my sights for a few minutes. i could just make out the silhouette of the deer when i let the arrow fly at 15 yards. i could barely see through the peep! heard him go down, double lung shot and only ran 40 yards. this is my first buck with a bow and im sure proud of this little guy. old slickhead is in trouble next:D. if anyone can tell me how to get some pics up ill put some on. hope your all having a good season!
  13. ive had my API climber for around 5 years i think and its held up great. it is exactly like the alumi-tech except without the footrest and it has the nylon straps for climbing instead of the bracket things that they use now. i gotta admit that sitting 3 days all day gets a little rough on your back like last weekend but for the quality and safety its worth it id recommend it but now its discontinued i think? but the alumitech is almost the same thing
  14. ill be out for all of saturday, part of sunday and all of monday:D. this is gunna be a long 3 days of waiting
  15. does anybody know what style of venison (back strap, etc.) michael cooks on the grill in the montana episode on the best of road trips season 1 and what marinade he uses?
  16. jeramie in answer to your question, it would be for whitetail but ive always wanted to get a bear:rolleyes: so for varmints or elk probably not
  17. hey guys, i know my last post was basically the same as this but ive done a little more thinking since my dad has a remington woodsmaster 740 in a 30-06 now i love the look and the semi-auto loading action, and as im looking around i see there are very few semi-autos out there on remington.com there is a woodsmaster 750 that looks just like my dads, and my question is #1 are there any other semi-autos that im missing and #2 which caliber out of 243,270,30-06, or 308 should i go for? again i know very similar to my last post but this has been floating around in my head for the past few days
  18. man i didnt think id get this much info about a good deer cal. for me but wow guys thanks youve helped out alot ill most likely look into a .308 and see whats out there
  19. alright thanks for the help, greatly appreciated
  20. so you think it should be between the 243 and 308? other suggestions? the recoil of a 20 gauge is nothing so something high than that is fine i was gunna shoot my dads 30-06 but second thoughts kept me from that idea haha
  21. im dying over here, half a month is gunna seem like 3 years:mad: my life has revolved around Monster Bucks and Road Trips videos
  22. yea, how would a .243 compare to say a .308?
  23. hey guys, new here but ive been reading and learning alot from posts from all you just had a question on a good rifle for me im currently shooting a little 20 gauge and have dropped 2 deer with it but would like to upgrade to a real rifle im 5'8 at 135lbs if this helps at all, and most shots are within 100 yards...id like something with plenty of power to drop one but id like to keep my shoulder where its at any replies are appreciated
