What a couple of awesome looking bucks!

Also, on a sidenote, i shot my optima with some Blackhorn 209 powder and 250 grain hornady sst's.......awesome. No fouled barrel to deal with and boy is that powder hot! I hit an old tree that was on the ground and you could see where the sst went it and was pushing wood out of the back and the tree was cracked down the middle the length of the bullet channel. It was a good size tree too. I cannot wait for gun season!

went out saturday morning and watched a freakishly huge four pointer, and then later 3 bucks chasing each other under the tree i usually hunt out of. Then i saw two does slip up the same path hiding from the bucks. They were all grunting like crazy. Then i started rattling and heard something that sounded like a hog chewing on a tree. I look up the hill and see antlers in the brush tearing up a tree. He started stomping down the hill grunting this real deep grunt but when he didnt see anything in the opening he simply turned and walked off and would not come back to a grunt or more rattling. I guess they get that big for a reason.

Going out tomorrow morning. I just heard some guy that hunts where i do shot a nice big 8 during the week. I also got permission to hunt around 25 acres behind the farmers house. Only his nephew and I have permission to hunt there.

I started hunting about 100 yards from where i was hunting and found 2 fresh scrapes on saturday right down from where i shot the doe. The only problem is that it is really thick and the only tree to hunt in so far is one that is in the y where 2 trails split. I have 1 more tree in mind but i have to see if i can climb it or i will have to put a lock on in it.

thats a good question? what color was the blood? any bubble? did the arrow smell bad? could it have been high? you can put what looks like a solid hit on a deer and you will see it a week later. If its too far back you hit liver they can run to the next county.

Last weekend my buddy was watching a six point putting the chase on 2 does that wanted nothing to do with him.

I shot that doe coming right down a trail head on on the ground at around 8 yards..... i walked up and knelt down by a tree and she stuck her head out. Only ran about 30 yards and i heard her pile up. She was being chased by a small 6 pointer but no bigger buck behind him. I am going to keep hunting that trail in a few spots. This trail has been seeing a lot of action this year and that is where the piebald i saw came from!

My first thought is you are correct but no one will ever know. I had that happen once and I saw the deer a few weeks later walking by me. I let the little buck walk after that. He survived a hard hit an I gave him a pass after that. He had a big knot on his side but seemed alright.

Keep your job with benefits and start looking for a new one. That is the problem now, we have too many people who could work going on unemployment.

I can finally shave the beard down some, not off but down. I cant shave it at all until I get a deer under my belt!

the "chase" is going hard here. I was walking along still hunting and had 2 doe coming head on. Needless to say at 10 yards the thunderhead did the trick. Picks to come later.....back to the woods to keep huntin bucks!
