Depends what kind of fields... Is there food in them??
-
Play the wind, play the wind, play the wind. This was my first year bowhunting and I don't have a stand - I hunt from the ground. I never once got busted and had numerous deer at 10 yards and they had no idea I was there, while sitting on a small chair near some brush.
-
Not right for him to tell that person he can hunt from your stand and its a good thing you are pulling it out. Unfortunately it is his land so he can decide who hunts it. Good luck in your new spot.
-
Well my season has come to an end. I could take another doe with the bow but it wouldn't count for points. We have a muzzle loader season but I don't own one. It was a great season and I am already planning for next year.
-
Good luck - Shoot straight! A 165" and 170" together, 2 giants fighting, and the 2nd biggest buck you've ever seen. Sounds like you have it better than most! I hunt 80 acres of private land in central MN and have never seen a 140" class deer while on stand. Hunt hard and put some brown on the ground.

By all of your threads it sure sounds like you have an unusual amount of monster deer running around. Didn't you say you had 2 deer close to the "200 inch" mark the other day? If I were you I would be sitting all day every day until you get one. Just sounds fishy to me because deer that big dont move around in the middle of daylight like some of these threads I've read. High fence? Good luck - Next time wear socks.

Last weekend of rifle season... Going out tomorrow morning/evening before/after work - Sitting Saturday and Sunday. I have decided that if anything with 6+pts shows itself I am taking it. I have passed on so many deer this year it's time for some more venison.
-
The only way to find out is to get in there and check for sign.
-
Passed another 4pt at 10yds today. Nothing else moving for me but one in our group got a decent 100 inch 9pt. Hoping for good things this evening.
-
Ended up seeing 8 deer, even with the wind. Rut is in full swing. Numerous 8s chasing very hard, full sprint tongue out. Passed a 4pt at 5yd. Tomorrow is supposed to be much better weather.
-
Good job on the doe! Rifle season opened today... 20mpg winds already. 3 deer but No shots.
-
The rut is in full swing here. Big boys are in full chase now. Tomorrow is forcast wind of 15-25mph with gusts to 30mph. Luckily I will be in a tri pod stand. Hoping to try an all day sit, even with the wind.

Giant cornfield got chopped this last week... My older brother checked the cam tonight and a monster has shown up. We haven't got him on camera before and rifle season opens Saturday. Just adds to the excitement!

Grim reapers. I have only hit one deer with it - My doe that I was extremely lucky to get. The arrow bounced off a branch and entered right under her ear, dropping her in her tracks. I was able to pull the arrow out of the skull no problem and it works/looks like new.
-
Points on the board! Great job man! I will be trading my camo in for the blaze orange this weekend as rifle season begins here in MN. The rut should be in full swing.

You do not need to build a "blind". If you are expecting the materials to be over $200 simply just research "ground blinds" and start out with that. I am bow hunting this year for the first time and I don't have a stand. I've sat on the ground every time and passed a 4pt, 6pt, and 3 does. 2 weekends ago I was sitting in a wood line 20yds from a corn field and took a 150lb doe. Google is your best friend. Google everything you have questions about.

Help me out guys.... Is that first deer the same as the other?? First pic at 6:46PM and the others 6:55PM. Shooting hours end at 6:30 here.... So irritating. I sat in this spot today without knowing this guy was there.
-
Will be out tonight and tomorrow morning. Wind supposed to pick up to 20-30mph in the afternoon.
-
Great pictures. The bigger deer should start moving during daylight soon. I wont be out until this weekend but I will be trying a spot I have left alone all season.
-
Yeah I'm sure the gut pile had no effect on the area. I checked 2 days later and there wasn't a trace left.
-
Had the doe weighed today and she topped out at 125. Gutted and she hung for 2 days before weighing her. He would have pushed 150 non gutted.

There is no "number one bow" on the market. Every hunter has their preferences and it depends soley on what feels comfortable to them.

Last night I finally laid the smackdown on my first ever bow kill. A big doe weighing well over 120lbs. A little story on what happened - On the property I hunt there are not many trees big enough to hang a stand, so I have been hunting from the ground. I have seen plenty of deer and had plenty in range earlier in the season but didn't pull the trigger. I have been hunting hard for the entire season and decided if a doe presents herself I'm taking the shot. I was hunting about 10 yards inside a woodline bordering a corn field and at about 6:35 she presented me with an easy 20 yard shot. I let the arrow fly and it hits a brach, ricochets up and to the left, and as she reacted to the sound and turned her head, the arrow went right below her ear dropping her in her tracks. I know I got lucky with this one and am extremely thankful it didnt end up wounding her. Wasnt the prettiest but man I will never forget this hunt. Didnt get any field shots before we cleaned her but here is a picture.Question: If we cleaned her in the field will the gut pile affect the deer on the property? Has anyone ever found that deer become skiddish with a gut pile out in the open?
-
I will never forget this hunt. The shot was dead on... The arrow hit a branch and veered up as she reacted. I ended up hitting her right under her ear and dropped her in her tracks. Lucky I even hit her.
