haha I agree with you. I see alot of people say certain mounts looks great, when if you take a closer look are very poor mounts. Its all about detail. Even the best taxidermist has room to improve

Nose is too black with no texture. Lips pulled and then painted black, hard to tell but the antler set looks off. ears look ok, but the ear butts look miss shaped. but wow, you have improved on your recent one! Keep up the good work!

6 months is a short turn around time. You have to remember your deer isnt the only deer that one taxidermist has to do. The process from skinning to completing the mount takes alot of work in itself. Most taxidermists have a one year turn around time. as for price, that depends on the quality of the mount as well as the area your in. Some areas charge $500+ for a shoulder mount...while others are in the lower range.

And dont forget the bucks your Girlfriend called in too I think its time we get ourselves a few deer!

Well, more in northern WI the bucks are coming alive! called in two different bucks with some grunting, and a buddy called in a large buck with his can call. they are looking for fights!

Thanks everyone! I like doing life size coyotes, but the shoulder mounts take up less space...and these two yotes were really rotten in the belly. Just didnt want to mess this that. As for the habitat base, I did it myself. Its actually a big hunk of foam that is cut and sanded down to the shape I wanted. Than I put a layer of brown paint on it and let it dry. Next step...Paint on a layer of elmers glue and pour real sand and dirt on it. pat it down a little bit and let it dry. Final step....mix up 50% water and %50 glue and use a pray bottle to coat the top of the dirt and sand. It seals it in and looks great! I was going to make my own carrots...but found these ones at the craft store. Chopped off the tops and "planted" them in the base. And yes!!! rabbits are tough to do! they have skin like tissue paper. The hardest part for me was skinning around the legs and down the toes. I wouldnt tell anyone not to try doing one..they are good practice. Just take your time!!

Dont get me wrong. I love drawing for people. But between everything I have going on in my life, its hard to find the time to just keep doing drawing after drawing. I still put them out, just at a much slower pace

Well I havent really thought about going in that direction, Ive taken my artistic ability into the taxidermy scene.. and am beginning to dabble in air brushing for that purpose. Haha believe it or not, when I was in high school I had the Idea of being a tatoo artist... but decided thats not where I wanted to go. As for my sketching, I keep getting more and more reguests from people...I might have to start charging if they want them done that bad..It just takes so much time! thanks for the nice comments everyone. Dont think you can age him by how thin his neck is this early. once the rut comes around his neck could swell up like a balloon. I think its an impressive deer, but you'll only know if he is a shooter when he is sitting right in front of your stand.

I looked tiny when I held these antlers. Turned out better than I thought too nice job hun.
