  1. Congratulations - What part of Nebraska were you in?
  2. Prayers sent!! My daughter was in the NICU in Milwaukee for a week right after she was born. I know how trying things like this can be. Hang in there.
  3. Most of what I have is Realtree, and Advantage. I do have a little bit of Mossy Oak. I like to where what I feel blends in the most in the area I'm hunting, no matter who makes it.
  4. Hey everybody.....if you live and/or hunt in Nebraska, let everybody know where you're from and where you're hunting. Never know, you might find somebody close to you that you didn't even know about. I'm from Osmond, in the Northeast corner and plan to be hunting up here this spring. Hoping to get a trip out to the sandhills for a weekend, too.
  5. Are you serious??????? The posts on here are direct answers to a question that was asked (by you.....it appears). The other post was a blatant advertising for a specific call. I'd say that's pretty obvious, and if you can't figure out the difference, maybe you should not be out "advertising" calls.
  6. I'll say one too. Hope it all goes well.
  7. HaHa Bears. You got what you deserved. Can't wait to see Cutler fall flat on his face as people realize that he's not nearly as good as he things he is. I don't know how anybody can think he's as good as they say he is. He's got a 17-20 record. (And yeah, yeah....I know their defense sucked). But all you hear is that when their defense held opponents to 21 points or under, he was 13-1. Well............half the quarterbacks in the league could do that. So......go luck Chicago. You're gonna need it. Da Bears Still Suck!
  8. Please remember, the original question was NOT my question. I just pulled it from a different forum. I personally do not shoot over 50 yards MAXIMUM, and much prefer shots under 35. I agree it's definitely a lot more fun, and a lot less chance of sending a wounded birds away.
  9. I know that high wind days can make turkey hunting a lot harder at times. But, I think it also has its advantages. What does everybody else think? Do you hunt differently on really windy days? Anything specific that you do to help you overcome the wind, or use it to your advantage?
  10. I picked this question up off a different forum, where it's causing quite a stir (Some of you have probably seen it). Just thought I'd see what people on here have to say. Note, it's not my original post, but wanted to leave as is. How far away is too far to shoot at a turkey? I say with the advent of TSS, 70, even 80 yard shots are possible.
  11. I feel very sorry for that boy. It is a good thing to keep in mind though. I've walked up on them without my gun after I've dropped up. Odds are, once they're down, they're down....but you never know. I guess it's no different than deer hunting. I always carry my rifle with me when I approach, just in case.
  12. Was out scouting today, 55 and sunny. Just checked he weather and Monday night - Tuesday we're supposed to get 5-10 inches of snow and blizzard conditions!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully it's got it out of its system by the time gun season opens here.
  13. I just bought a new glass pot call the other day, and was wondering what is probably a pretty simple question, but I don't know the answer too. Do I need to rough up the surface on a glass call? I've only ever used actual slate calls before, so don't want to mess this one up. Thanks
  14. I don't use a gobbler decoy, so I haven't tried it. But, I've seen them in the store, and they look like they'd work pretty well.
  15. Outside, unless I'm wearing hip boots or waders.
  16. He's more than a trespasser, he's also endangering himself and anybody else who has permission to hunt there. If you or somebody else who has permission is hunting, and do not think anybody else is on the land, it could be easier for you to accidentally shoot somebody, or for somebody to accidentally shoot you, if you are sneaking through the woods. After a couple close calls of running into people I didn't expect in the past, I try to always live by the theory that I'm not the only one in the woods, even if I'm the only one who has permission. Good luck, and hope you can keep these guys off your spot.
  17. I picked up the glass version on Sunday. I really like the sounds I can get out of it.
  18. OK. Here's a question for everybody. I know everybody on here asks a lot which kind of call to use (box, slate, etc). Even though I know this this is extremely situational, and many are combined on every bird, I'm just curious. There are so many different call sounds (yelps, clucks, purrs, cuts, gobbles, etc), in your opinion, what's the ideal situation to use these different calls when out hunting. Please feel free to add any others to the list as well?
  19. Nice looking bird. And I like the story too.
