Even if you don't get things back 100%, know that he will get his just deserves in time. ** It may not be enough now... but time will tell.

Amen brother.... amen. :smoke:

It's all of our country. If we don't like something.... IT NEEDS TO CHANGE.... otherwise, soon, it won't be the land our forefathers conquered anymore.... it will be a new country.... that we are foreigners to.

That's why God invented Krylon....lol

Sounds like I may need to buy some hip waders....lol

A light walnut forend and stock would look GREAT together. If it was my setup... Id match the the rings to the tone of the barrel (Matt or Glossy) and then a silver toned Optic. Then again, that's just me. Ive always wanted a multi tone/stainless blued setup. Just never had the chance.

120 of FF grade 777, and a 300 grain SST or a 295 Powerbelt. ( TC Encore)

Congrats!! I still have to wait and find out if I pulled a speed goat tag out west in the state....(drawing "should" be this week)

Fed or Win ammo... either or is fine if you don't handload... I don't like to knock brands as each have issues at some point, but I have bought a few boxes of Remington ammo to break in rifles of different cals.... and each one is rocks and dynamite loading, with shotgun patterns, not groups.... especially with the 7 Rem Mag.. a 150 doing over 3300 in the thing.Even with going with the old way of testing pressure (copper crush) that it was even remotely safe working pressures.

That's all fine and dandy... but you all seem to be beating around the bush. Im simply saying that there is a difference AND that it's a good round.... a bit lathargic... but a good one none the less. If it was an end all be all, nothing else would have been made afterwards... but you and I know better. Faster,harder,stronger,new.... etc marketing... you name it. I have no room to complain. I own all commercial 06 variants (short of the 6.5/06) in multiple manufacturers.... as well as a few magnums. Truth be told... my greatest rifle in the field? My 300 win. A 150 at 3300 or a 180 at 3150. My 280 is a close second.... but Im pushing the coals on that one, a 140 ct doing around 3050fps.

Id build up a Rem 700 Bdl in 7mm Mag, and an avg 3x9x40 optic.. probably a Leupold.

I ain't worried about starting anything... you have your opinion, and I have mine... However, if youv'e made 500+ yard kills with it you KNOW your rifles trajectory with that load.... and it's obviously not a problem for you. For the average shooter, it IS a problem, because they don't know the tables, nor how much to "dope" the rifle. ** The longest kill shot I have was with a 270wsm, and a 130 ballistic tip.... doing around 3350. The range was approx 560 yards.

308 wins are at their best with a 150 grain projectile... Especially if you plan on shooting anything past 250 yards or so... with anything heavier in the 308--- the trajectory is horrible at best. Everyday Federal blue box federal ammo will do you justice, and not cost you an arm and a leg to run the weapon.

I was thinking those inflatable waving arm things. But yeah, Whitetails or Mulies would be a GREAT second choice..lol...

Sorry.. but you can't guarantee anything...lol. You can kill a deer with a slingshot if you do it right. The caliber simply is not as much of an issue is the feel, fit and handling.. If they can't shoot because of the weapon not fitting them, or their inability, caliber matters ziltch. Now, I will give you this... too high of a recoiling round WILL make a bad shooter IF they are not used to it.... but that simply goes back to common sense.

Don't get me wrong... I love the model 700 action. BUT, I like the mauser actions a lot more.... why? Personal preference.
-
Nope. Im talking about Model 700s. One was an LSS 7 Ultra, and one was a 243 winchester in SPS youth.... a few others but I don't recall the specifics right now.... The 243 was a literal shotgun... it didn't group, it PATTERNED- like a dang shotgun... 3+ in groups.... no matter what we did. The 7 ultra was a tack driver.... BUT Youd never notice what was wrong unless you handloaded. They didn't bore the chamber correctly, and each shot, it ruined the case... my brother went thru a few sizing dies before figuring that one out... The LSS was sent into Remington, and they did NOTHING for him.. (aka no new barrel)... they Just sent it back, saying that if it shoots factory ammo, thats all they require.
-
Just let her use the Model 7... If she picks up the "spirit"... Then worry about getting her her own setup...
-
Many, many good ideas here. Cartidge doesn't matter nearly as much as fit. Deer don't die because it's a "super-dooper magnum impact"... they simply die from being hit CORRECTLY. Marlin is making a XS7 with is chambered in 243,308, and 7mm08. Ruger makes youth rifles in the MKII Hawkeye. Remington makes the 700 and Model 7 models that will fit youth and most women. For a first hunting rifle, Most Savages fit GREAT, and are pretty accurate, and don't cost the farm. I bought a Marling XL7 in 2506 a while back... The XS7 is just the short action flavor.... and from what I've experinced, they are MOA rifles... and for under 400, fully built up.

It's not very swift to use a highpower rifle or big shotgun on a snake, unless you absolutely have to... The Judge, or any smaller "derringer" class weapon is meant for that tasking.:robot:

+1 Get the 3in flavor, though.
