I'm getting ready to try out black bear hunting here in CA. I've talked with some DFG and they set me up with a place that should have definite bear activity. Unfortunately CA is very strict on use of Bait or any attractants. I'm thinking of trying a predator call. The area where I'm hunting is about 6500- 7500 ft elevation. It is a natural refuge for mule deer in the winter. I was planning hunting in late october 1 -2 weeks after deer season. I thought a fawn in distrsess call might be the ticket given the circumsances. Has anyone had any luck with these? If so what brand or model? If anyone sees some flaws in my strategy please let me know. As I said, I'm really new to this type of hunting and could use all the pointers I can get. Thanks
