At least you got to see some activity.

Sounds to me you found some nice property to hunt. Best of luck to you. Hope you get to fill a tag with his name all over it.
-
Congrats, Like said before, I would check out my sights on the target a few more times before heading back out.

Actually, No im sure they wouldnt. Over my leave in Sept. The Hunting and Fishing day at Stonewall Jackson was in. A group of guys form Cabelas were up there handing out some broadhead dvds. On the new Grim Reaper DVD they do a sort of myth busting scenario. The made a balistic gelatine that was to Military standard, placed a deer hide over it and shot into it. It was Rage vs Grim Reaper. Both passed into the gelatine about 2 inches before the blades flew open. Gelatine is a bit thicker than mesh lol. Best of luck.
-
Im not sure, but I dont think the mesh will provide enough force to open the mechanical blades on it. Sorry I cant help, perhaps some of the other Rage hunters can help you out on it. From my opinion I dont think it would.

Very nice group, especially for 30 yrds.

Im have to agree with the two previous post 100%. Wind direction is a big key IN ALL forms of deer hunting. Its one of the most important things to pay attention to.
-
Have you scouted the area in which you wish to place the Blind? If so pay attention to the wind pattern, scent is a big thing especially if your wanting a bruiser. No worse feeling then getting busted. What kind of blind do you have? Alot of them have the screen shoot through windows like said above, but generally they have windows 360 ing around your blind. Placement is key. Not saying it needs to be scent loc but all precautions to concealling your scent would be helpful. Maybe spray your blind down and set it out there for a few days before you actually hunt it. Like said before the deer need a chance to get used to it.

Come on now, Weekend Warriors? Honestly? Do You not realize more than 75% of the soldiers in Iraq right now are National Guard? Much like myself and my Battalion...

The adress has been sent, thank you so much for your help. I cant wait to tell the guys the news in the morning!
-
I have a couple videos of it too, but I just cant figure out how to get them on here. I might make a profile and put them on youtube. Im pulling somemore of my pictures offline of some more muddin I did, but this time it will be pictures of a 91 GMC Sierra.

I use the Montec G5's they are resharpenable, like he said up there it only takes about a minute. Changing from your practice tip to broadhead you can barely tell a difference. With the deer I have harvested with them they have never made it more than 40 yards from the point of impact. With each shot there has been a clean pass through. Though many dont prefer such a thing. I swear by them and will never change!

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you so much Jesse!

Just some pics of stuff I did while I was on my leave from Iraq in September. Hope you enjoy them, not sure if many of you do things like this where you are from, but its a normal occurance in WV.

Wow...Now thats a dandy buck, heh, im sure Arrow and I could take a trip out there and evaluate if he was a shooter or not...that is as we were eating some backstrap lmao. Good luck Tony, That will deffinently be a BBD!

Ive personally not had any problems with black bears in WV. Though I do know alot of people who hunt them, last bow season my father in law harvest a 317 pound black bear during the opening of bow season. He said there was no experience like it in his life. I tried putting a picture of it on here for you, not sure if it worked or not. But in the case that it did. The far left, Jerry Jones - Father in law Middle - Myself And right Duffer Claypool. The bear was harvested in Barbour County West Virginia.

Its good to hear you recovered your deer. Like you said, every variable plays its toll whenever you are bowhunting. Tell your buddy congrats.

For a rest I would go with something simple at first, like the Whisker Biscuit from Trophy Ridge/ Carolina Outdoors. There have been a few complaints about in the snow the whiskers will freeze up but I personally have had no problem with it. For another reason, being new to shooting bows you dont have to worry about your arrow falling off the rest. I do like drop aways, but for a beginner, not calling you incompetent. I would go for something like the whisker biscuit. I have tried many but always seem to turn back to it. Stablizers on the other hand are normally personal prefrence, some people like shorter ones than others. I myself when I am back in the states use the fuse axim. Its only about four inches but so far I have found no reason to change. Its all going to depend on how much you are willing to spend. Sights, there are many out there but I have no idea where to begin, After all that is said and done, welcome to the bowhunting family and I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

Congrats, You should post your pic up under the Thread about them doubting the Rage broadhead. What better form of proof than showing them the magic at work.
-
Congrats on your first bow kill, now your going to be stuck like the rest of us. Bow hunting gives you a little more of a adrenaline rush does it not? Anyways, keep up the good work.
