Unless this guy has abnormally large hands, it's obvious that this pic has been photoshopped. ALOT! Its a shame becasue it looks like a nice deer and didn't need the cropping work done to it.

Picked a form for the mount, going with a Mckenzie LD-197 shown here... http://www.mckenziesp.com/Catalog35/full.asp?page=363 That'll keep his head down a little to help show off the spread and the measurements are right on.

Thx. We've seen a few piebald does in our hunting areas over the years and a fellow hunter killed a small 70lb 4ptr a few years back but mines the biggest anyone around here has ever seen.
-
I read somewhere that there is a 65% chance of a piebald having piebald offspring. Just need to get her hooked up with a good buck and cross your fingers.
-
I use my 25-06 with a 85 grain bullet. Drops em everytime, shoots flat as a board and little pelt damage (not my main concern).

I like to wait a month or so after deer season is over, seems like they don't come in much until then. Maybe its all the wounded deer that they get to clean up that hunters never find.

.17 fireball or centerfire is great, the .17hmr is not quite enough in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't ruin my herd over their stupid rule. I'm all for maintaining a herd, but the whole point is to 'maintain' a healthy herd and to weed out the bad genes. Those new rules don't let you guys do that, you're stuck having to let everything walk and thats bad any way you look at it.

Best Sounds for the Eastern Coyote
cb11 replied to yotewannabe's topic in Varmint & Predator Hunting
Good point, you have to make it sound like a real situation to get the yotes to come. Foxes are stupid, turn on the call and just let it run and in they come. The yotes don't make it that easy for ya. -
Best Sounds for the Eastern Coyote

Here in VA we like to use raccoon pups or rabbit in distress, depending on what you think there may be more of in the area. They're tough to call and most times we wind up getting a fox or two to come in instead. -
Good day of hunting, 8pt buck, bobcat and coyote.

Thx guys. It was a good day. The following Tuesday we got another Bobcat off the place so we're getting there. Now that deer season is over we'll concentrate on thinning out the yotes, foxes and cats. -
I thought I'd post up a neat story from a few weeks ago. Went hunting on the last day of general firearms here in VA with a few friends and we had a pretty good morning. I killed a 45lb coyote, friend killed a 15lb bobcat and another got a pretty 8ptr (we were trying to let this deer go til nexst season but it was the biggest deer he has ever killed so...)

I like the 25-06 as well. I use mine for both yotes and deer hunting. 110 grain for the deer and 85 grain for the yotes. It's a Savage too, can't beat them for the price.

Lets see if it works...

Thanks for the sig buckee. Pretty sweet.

Think we're going to go with a left side, standing, head up turned left full body mount. The left side had a little more white and slightly longer tines.

I got agree with an earlier statement, he's not going to go far from that food source that banged up. I'd try and find the thickest bedding area close to that feeder/camera and setup around the edges of it and try to take him out of his misery. I know he wouldn't make it around my neck of the woods either, yotes woulda had a field day with him. Good luck.

Finally uploaded the rest of the pics. This is a good one to show the width.

Well made a deal with the taxidermist, I've got a fawn that was hit by a car in the spring, a coyote and my piebald there to do full mounts on so $$$$$$. Gave him my 87 Jeep YJ and he's going to do all three mounts plus gave me $1,000. Worked out for both of us. Now just to pick the mount.

I'd say a solid 9 for me. My bowseason was a bust, sort of. I saw deer at every set I hunted but only got to hunt three times before my twins were born early. Took a management buck on one of the two days I was able to black powder hunt and then shot my big 8pt piebald (see other post) on opening day of rifle season. Looking forward to some nice late season bowhunting.

If there is even a chance of that small buck growing another year, I say watch and enjoy the moment. Maybe even go to full draw or imagine taking the shot for the practice and know that you could have taken him if you wanted. Shoot the doe and let him grow.

Won't quite have to take a loan out but it'll be well worth it.
-
Bet that one looked like a light bulb going through the woods.
-
Nope, antler genes are good on him for sure. He did have short front legs tho.
-
They were actually killed a week apart. The doe was killed the last Saturday of black powder season. I'm not sure about the chance of them being related. I know deer can travel a long ways so maybe. I did read that a piebald buck has a 65% chance of having a piebald offspring.
