  1. Pork Suet Here in Steamboat, the butcher at the grocery store always has some pork fat, or suet, hanging around in back. I just ask him for about 10% of my total meat's weight worth, and they're happy to give it away instead of throw it out. I'd bet your local grocer does the same thing. Happy hunting, Sam http://www.samfinden.com Hunting and Fishing Short Stories Online.
  2. Lousy Coyotes I'm proud of those of you who are controlling the pesky coyote population. Yesterday I saw one whilst guiding a snowmobile tour here in Steamboat Springs, CO, and my hand went to my hip immediately. Unfortunately, with clients close behind, I wasn't at liberty to take care of business (or at least attempt to!) He had a beautiful, thick winter coat that would've looked really good on my wall! I'll let you all know if I get another crack at him. Happy hunting, Sam http://www.samfinden.com Hunting and Fishing Short Stories Online.
  3. OK, here's the skinny: I'd like anyone interested in the outdoors to put this thread to work. Please let me know what your favorite outdoor discipline is (target archery, tactical shooting, long range varminting, muzzleloading, bass fishing, etc.) I'm interested in writing stories about what turns your wheels, so please reply. I'll write a story about the discipline that is most popular, and it will be available on my website: http://www.samfinden.com Thanks, Sam
  4. Hello everyone. If you're inclined to read some hunting stories, please stop by my page and read some that I've posted. I'd appreciate it if you'd leave a comment, or discuss my stories in this "Lounge" area. Yours in Sport, Sam http://www.samfinden.com
  5. Keep it up. Hey guys, just wanted to share with you what we talked about in church today: The preacher was drawing reference to the promised land of the old testament, and how today's promised land is a perfect relationship with God the father. If you'll recall, the two souls who made it all the way to the promised land wound up having to fight to stay there. In today's terms, Satan throws all sorts of troubles at us. Divorce is our battle against the walls of Jericho. Also, financial troubles are our battle. And sickness, and so on. The point I'm trying to make is that even when things are great, we still have a battle against Satan to fight. Too often I personally feel that, "Oh, man, I just beat that evil, everything's going to be great now," and something else will come along and kick me in the teeth. It's not always easy, but it's right to stand back up and fight for your God. The preacher also made note of the fact that our ammunition in the battle against evil is our understanding of what the scripture tells us. Without knowing how to draw reference to the bible, we feel like a one legged man in a butt-whooping contest. But with the knowledge that God has laid out for us in the scripture, we can defeat any evil. Keep up the good work and good faith, and God bless you. Sam http://www.samfinden.com
  6. Socialized Medicine in America I'm not very happy with the situation we're in now, and have a feeling that the majority of Americans are in my corner. If this isn't enough proof that an idealistic, liberal senate, house, and white house will run our ship aground, I don't know what is. Part of me, as I'm sure is true with many of you, wants to say "I told you so" to all of the Obama supporters that I have argued with in the recent past, but we all know that would do no good. The best hope we have now is that the mistake our nation made in November 2008 (electing a nearly socialist candidate to the highest office in the world) will not be repeated in November 2010. Hopefully the starry eyed democrats will realize that they've erred by then, swallow their pride, and do what needs to be done in the voting booth. Then we can get back on track toward being the accountable and self-reliant nation our founders set us up to be. Be well, my friends. http://www.samfinden.com
  7. Mr. Nugent doesn't pull any punches. I'm a huge Ted Nugent fan because of his excitement and reverance for the game he harvests. If there's a journalist out there who felt as passionately about their own subject matter as Uncle Ted does about his, I have yet to read their stuff. He's very energetic and unapologetic in his politics, and I happen to agree with him most of the time. Ted, White, & Blue, his newest book, is a very good read. I highly recommend it. Happy Hunting.
