The molasses he is talking about is dried molasses. Great product to mix with any of your attractants. Top dress piles of corn, mix with feed, etc. Just bought a 50lb bag, $11. Another product I would recommend using instead of the overpriced stuff in a bag with a big buck on it.

Very nice choice. Can never go wrong with Leupold!

Dried distillers in the byproduct of Ethanol. If your not exactly familiar with the ethanol process, they obviously use corn to make ethanol. Once through the process the biproduct has a very distint and strong smell. It actually has a smell like booze. The smell is very strong tho and the deer can smell it from a loooooong ways away. Like I mentioned earlier we have many ethanol plants in nebraska so I get mine from a local feed mill. However if you don't have any your way it will probably be pretty tough to get your hands on some with out paying a boat load for shipping costs. I will say though if you want some action on a game cam, this is the ticket! And its dirt cheap! Just doesn't have the pic of the big buck on the bag

Thanks man! Got one ordered for shipping of $4.95. Cheap

Well getting closer to getting started on my blind. Finally found a wagon running gear to mount the 6x8 blind on. Just have to stop at lumber yard and get the rest of the wood materials (ouch!!).
-
Thanks alot for the info. I'll have to give that a try this fall after all my apples are done Gotta love apples. Anyone have anything else they want to share on attractants/minerals????

This is the exact thing that scares me about a mechanical broadhead. Concept is great but if for whatever reason it does not open completely you might have just missed a trophy!?? Help?? Doesn't sound like anyone so far has tried the F-15?
-
I'm in my second year of shooting a bow and looking at getting the F-15 broadhead? I have the rage 2blade and the crimson talon but seen some advertisement and really like the looks and concept of the F-15. First off its a fixed broadhead which is the reason I don't trust the Rage anymore considering the NE weather can get nasty and would be VERY upset if the mechanical broadhead didn't open up correctly. Maybe overreacting?? What's everyone's thoughts??

Yeah, I'm sure the hogs can be a pain in the neck. Bout as bad as the coons and squirrels here! What is the fine if they would happen to see some corn on the ground? And if you had your camera already moved why would someon bother cleaning up the corn. Sounds like way to many rules to even make it worth while for a GW. What are they going to do take off on a walk and see if they stumble across some cams? Doubt it. In NE they are actually cuttin back on GW's. Fewer of the them and now they pretty much spend most of their time responding to call in's. Happy hunting

I'm afraid this is what I'm going to find out once I try it here in Nebr. Will be better than nothing but just cannot imagine something costing $25 will clear them out. I'm sure still going to have to cover up all my skin to help avoid the darn things. I can't sit in stand and put up with them very long! Was just HOPING the thermacell would help out alot.

Wow! Yeah I would agree. That is more confusing than anything! How strict can they possibly be on this? Heck that would be a full time job for a Game Warden just checking this stuff. Sorry, don't make much sense to me. Unless the people making the laws were bored? Only thing I can think of.
-
Thats the great thing about using PayPal to pay for the purchase. Even though you havn't been able to see the product. If the product is not in the exact condition the seller says its in you can file a claim and you will get your money back. Been through that process and had my money back within a couple weeks. Not bad all things considered. To each their own
-
Wow! Those are some crazy laws you got down there. Makes it more confusing than anything in my opinion. Yeah unless you had a couple people to buy some too a whole pallet would be pretty pricey for myself. Although $10/bag don't seem too bad if it works!
-
I'm sure you'll be happy with that. Not too bad of a price.
-
Yes it sure does. All the anticipation of purchasing it, etc, etc and then there it sits in the box on my floor!! grrrrrrrr. sure like the feel of it tho!
-
Thanks for the info. Yeah makes it tough if you don't have any ethanol plants close. Who makes the protein pellets your using? I've tried a type of them in the past but didn't have much luck at all. Here in Nebraska, I don't concentrate as much on feeding protein as we have all kinds of soybeans/corn for them. I'm focusing a little more on other nutritional needs. The pellet I used that time once it fell from my auto feeder and got wet and swelled up to where nothing would go near it.

Has anyone tried using dried distillers to get more deer in front of your game cams?? The smell drives the deer crazy and they can smell it from forever away. I'm trying to come up with a good quality and balanced nutritional ingredients to mix with it to use. Dried distillers is very cheap too! $4/50lb bag where I get it. For those that don't know what dried distillers is, its the byproduct from making Ethanol. And here in Nebraska we have plenty of Ethanol plants around. Anyone experimenting with it or any other mixtures??
-
Thanks a lot for the info. I really like your idea of the corn, soybeans, molasses, liquid fat and distillers. Anyway I could bother you for what ration you use? How much would a mill charge for a 50lb bag? roughly. My advantage is I can just go back to the farm and take some buckets of corn and beans from my dads piles
-
Yes I have been experimenting with many different mixes. I used the stock salt and trace mineral one. Worked fairly well. I will say the trophy rock has been working for me for 3 years now. Hard to beat those. Problem is, most mixtures are salt based and I'm trying to get them using something with much more nutritional value and I think I have found it. A local feed store actually mixed a bunch of bags for an outfitter and I bought some he had left. This stuff has the PERFECT mixture of calcium, phos, etc, etc. Plus he only charges $15/50lb bag! Don't need to pay for the name or picture on the bag like all the other products. Also been using dried distillers. Its only $3/50lb bag and its great for top dressing corn or soybeans. Deer go crazy over it!! Anyone been using anything else?? Curious
-
Yeah Im really looking forward to getting my Leupold scope in for it so I can go shoot it! Anxious as it is now just sitting on my floor beggin me to go shoot it.
-
I'm going through the same situation. I just bought a new CVA Accura and looked at many many scopes. I actually went away from the redicule scopes. I just like the looks of normal cross hairs and not sure if I completely trust some of the redicule scopes. Specially because they somewhat narrow down your powder charge to either 100 or 150 grain. No in betweens. Plus I can always swap my scope to my rifle if need be. I went with the Leupold VX I. Middle ranged scope. I have the Nikon Prostaff on my .270 and it has been absolutely awesome for the price! Been dead on past 4 years after all my abuse of bouncing around in pickup, etc. For the price of that one its tough to beat.
-
Its amazing how quick the lumber adds up! The pre-fab blinds seem like a ton of money but until a guy takes the time and money to build own might be better off just buying one? More fun building your own. However im running out of time!

Here alot about the Acorn Rage. Anyone using that? Also if you get a chance to look at cabelas you will find BB. This is made here in Nebraska and works real well. Would recommend it. Lot cheaper compared to many other attractants.
-
To be honest if you don't want to spend a ton of money, I bought one of the yellow jacket targets at cabelas for about $65 and it has lasted many shots and is very simple to remove arrows. I think its easier to remove than the Block target. Good luck
-
Thanks. That would be great. I know I have put about $450 into mine thus far and still have most 2x4 (which are cheap) and much of the plywood yet to buy (not cheap!). I'm using sliding utility windows for mine. Hope I don't regret that!?
