    3 weeks

I have killed the first week or two a couple of times. Only reason I wouldn't be out there if its like 100 degrees. Like said on the above post must be present to win. I have never killed a buck early, but not for the lack of trying. I try to get the monkey off my back quick with some good tasting doe backstraps!
  6. Over hunting a stand is sometimes unavoidable, but I do agree that trying to hunt the winds or the number times you hunt it help. I know I have a stand that really no matter what the wind is I am going to be in trouble if a deer comes that way. I have seen deer come each an everyway from that stand, but on the over hunting part after I shoot one out of that stand I try to stay away from hit at least a week. I remember when I was younger that I shot at a 8 pointer in pre dawn darkness I nicked him an the next morning I killed him.
  7. I would guess he is around 3 or 3.5 his body could be decieving though. Still definetly a shooter for sure. I would say 140s though
  8. Can't wait for October 1st in the Hoosier State. Have 3 different places to hunt. Have my hang ons sitting outside airing out. I'm going to try an get them in a actual tree, but this week was the hottest week of the year so far so I waited

    135 inch

Nice deer. It would be tough to pass him up. It will be interesting to see him out of velvet.
  10. I broke down and got a new bow this year. I got a new job about a year ago and I told myself that if I got a new job a new bow would be in my future. I was shooting the Matthews Reezen which is a very good bow, but I wanted to try something new. I finally decided on the Strother Wrath and so far I really like it. I can't wait to stick a deer this fall with it.

  12. Im glad to hear the good things about the Grim Reapers I have just switched to them from rages excited to stick one with the Reapers
  13. I think it varies. Most of the time I like to be there before light but with a gun it doesn't bother me to be there a little later because gun can reach out an touch one, but with a bow I much rather be early.
  14. I use a lone wolf. Very light weight an pretty easy getting in an out. My biggest complaint would be its not the most comfortable after about 3 hours or so, but I use it almost every hunt an it's a pretty good one overall.
  15. My only thing is with a lot of the professionals is this... They have access to land and huge land tracts. The normal day everyday hunter doesn't have near what they got. I have 300 acres roughly in one area that's including some agricultural stuff with that. I would never say another if they could come out an kill a mature buck. They sometimes during a morning see 10 to 12 shooter bucks. I would fall out of the tree if I saw even half that. Don't get me wrong I believe many of them hunt fairly an some do have their own property but many go outfitters, which if I could afford that I would go. I just want them to do what do many of us have to do.
  16. I have shot a little bit of everything over the past few years. I have lost one deer with a rage because of a poor shot. I haven't always had the best blood trails but they have all went down within sight of the stand. My wife bought me the rage extremes for a suprise and I shot a doe with one on wednesday morning blood was everywhere and she made it 35 yards. I'm not saying rages are the best but I have had very good luck with them
  17. It can never hurt in my opinion. I would think its probably a little to earlier at this point to do it, but you never know. I don't think it hurts to much I have rattled at bucks before and they didn't pay any attention to it and kept on there way, but I have seen it turn them just the same.
  18. Congrats to your uncle on the buck
  19. I shot a buck a long time ago that actually had a broken ear. It had a huge calcium deposit on top and it was fully healed.
  20. Got to love those rages. Congrats on the doe
  21. Good luck to you as well hopefully southern indiana hits it big this year...
  22. That last one would be a great buck to get those brows are crazy!! good luck
  23. I am thinking about getting a new muzzleloader this upcoming year. I have had one for a few years and I am not real crazy about it. The major thing I don't like is the breach plug ceezes (SP) up and I have to work like crazy to get it out. So I was wondering on all your opinions on what I should get.........
