  1. Never seen any problems with hunters using 243. I have seen more bad shots with larger cal rifles. As has been said a thousand times on this forum, shot placement is just as important or more so than the cal of rifle.
  2. Great buck. Congrats.
  3. Dove season always kicks off my hunting year. Bow season starts the weekend after dove in NC.
  4. You should have another couple weeks to get the plot in. Try some brassicas.

    Bow Hangers

Realtree E-Z hangers for me. They work great in my ladder stands and hang-ons. The one in the video is pretty cool.
  6. This is just a matter of someones preference. I prefer a 3 pin sight. It just keeps it simple for me.
  7. X2. When you get too high you can run into some steep shooting angles leading to small a small area to place your arrow.
  8. My brother let a young 6-pointer walk this past season numerous times only to see it in the back of a truck at deer camp. Too many older hunters have the mindset if it is brown it is down.
  9. Yeah, the lease I hunt on have had a few dogs die of lead poisoning also.
  10. Rumors in NC it will be around $9 a 50lb bag.
  11. Sounds like some good hunting. I am looking forward to this season also because of a cutover. Good luck.
  12. Looking at the ballistics I would think it would not be much good after 50 yards. If you could move up to a 20 ga due to the vast amount of choices of ammo.
  13. I too have been hunting in NC for many years. I have nothing compared to that but it shows us the potential if we just let them grow. Where I hunt in Montgomery County we have too many poachers and hunters that shot anything that is brown to let something walk and grow another year. Last year on our hunting lease someone shot a 130 class buck that the taxidermist swore was a 1 1/2 year old buck. It did not weigh over 120 lbs. No one I know would have let that buck walk.
  14. These cartridges are more than adequate for deer. Inside 100 yards I have killed numerous deer and hog. I have been using the Hornady XTP 240 grain in my .44 lever gun for years with great results.
  15. Ga. and NC for me this year like every other year. Coaching youth football and basketball prevent much else during the fall months, but would not trade it for the world.
  16. Code blue has given me the most success of any scrape product I have used.
  17. The county that I live in is shotgun only. I am not sure how much safer a shotgun is with modern slugs than a centerfire rifle. This thinking just does not apply when using today's ammo.
  18. x2. Never had a problem using same one that I use with my compound bow.
  19. Awesome bird. Great story too.
