  1. Think this thread got hijacked somewhere along the way.
  2. Yea they said it came in for like 3 days and shut back down.
  3. Well 9 days the rut still hadn't started and I ended up with a big old Goose Egg and a tag sandwich this year. Never seen it like that in KS. Maybe next year.
  4. Well I skipped a few days because there was no change. But today on evening hunt of Day 7 I finally saw a mature buck following two does and grunting. Hope this is a sign with the weather dropping in high 20 s and low 30 s that the big boys Are about to come out to play. Will keep you up to date. Looks like rifle season is going to be something special this year.
  5. Day 3 no change. It's day 4 now in the morning and have had a doe that was really testing my patience a small 8 and a 130 come by. Maybe some of the bigger ones will start to move.
  6. Day two was a lot like day one. Small bucks are on the move but still no big ones spotted yet.
  7. Well the weather changed and not to much going on the first day. Saw a few small bucks but not much rut activity going on yet.
  8. Great deer you have there. Love the drop he has.
  9. Leaving this morning headed to our private family land that I go to every year in Kansas. From what I hear we will be getting there just at the right time. Will try to keep updates on how it goes.
  10. Yea Tim I just got back from Illinois today and the Bucks are chasing like crazy right now.
  11. Well here he is. Was a awesome hunt.
  12. Well morning one deer were moving pretty good. Saw several small ones, had a nice 10 chasing a doe that wouldn't come into range. Then about 9:30 the man steps outs at 50 yards. Comes in to 20 and the Heli M drops another. Ruff gross was 178 6/8. Will have pictures to come. Even got it all on film.
  13. Well got here early and got settled in. Went to the stand just to look. Saw a spike, weird 6 point and then a true stud walk out for about for about three seconds. He ran down into the brush were there had to be another stub because the fight was on. We couldn't see them but could hear the horns crashing together. Hope tomorrow he comes back.
  14. Leaving on the 5th of Nov. for a Hunt to a place I have never been, hope it turns out good. Will let you know what happens and hope to have some nice pictures to go along with it.
  15. Check here. We have a huge acorn crop this year.
  16. The first Four pictures are deer at home and the last one is the one im headed to try to get in KS this year.
  17. My neighbor just got the Z9 and seems to be very happy with it. I got the Mathews HeliM and it is light and pretty fast, really good bow in my eyes but I don't know if it fits your draw or not.
  18. Well I have hunted both situations here at home in MS where you are lucky to see 1 good buck a year to hunting some Private land in Kansas. Hunting out in KS and Iowa etc. is way easier to take a good buck then around home. I can see most all of these guys and girls hunting low fence free roaming deer at these places and having great success because to be honest taking a 140+ buck on these good pay hunts is not that hard to do. Not like it is at home anyway. The part that I think would be the hardest about the hunt for them is getting set up in the trees and getting the perfect camera shot without the deer seeing not only one of them but two people up a tree. I am sure some hunt high fence but I think most know better then to do it because they have to keep their public relationship to be able to sell their produts and represent their sponsors.
  19. Well as the Title says I am looking at buying 10+ Hang on Stands that are really comfortable. I like to sit for a pretty good amount of time and most of the stands I see have a comfortable seat but the backs are only a pad that makes the seat 90 deg and with back pains those tend to put to much pressure on the back. I am looking for one that is more in a reclined position with a shooting rail. Guide Gear Extreme Comfort Hang On Tree Stand at Sportsman's Guide This is the stand that I was wanting to try out but they are sold out. So one similar to this one would be great. I have searched alot over the net but havn't come up with anything and was wondering if anyone knew of one similar to this that I havn't found yet?
  20. 2011 Kansas trip was a rough go this year but on the 8th day I finally got a pretty good buck. Wasn't the guy I was after but happy with him anyway.
  21. He was aged at 5 1/2 to 6 years old.
  22. Headed back to Kansas this year. Leaving out on the 3rd of Nov. Had a blast last year and hoping for another great year.
  23. Most of your really good taxidermist will take close to a year to get a finished mount. You can find some that only take a couple of months to do it but you have to watch out for those cause alot of the time they are learning the process and using your mount for the practice. Buddy of mine went through that to try to save some money but the mount just turned out horrible.
