  1. Blue Tounge ???? It's been bad in Missouri and southern Iowa from what I've seen. I've done a lot of work in northern Missouri and southern Iowa lately and talking to the farmers, it seem there are dead deer turning up everywhere. I myself found a 156" buck dead by a pond 4 days ago.
  2. Corn leagal or not? There are always loop holes. For instance, if you have a corn field, it is acceptable to "accidentally" drop so much on the ground while harvesting. It never said it can't be dropped close to your stand!
  3. trail can pics Reason I asked was I usually am in stand well before first light, or a few hrs before dark, and got to thinking the big boys are likely smart enough to figure out that most hunters leave the woods for lunch.
  4. trail can pics Pretty much what I figured. What time do you guys see most big mature deer? I've been told mid day is when they are usually out.
  5. trail can pics My hopes are not high on seeing him, but there is also a cool double main beam buck on the farm I am after.
  6. 13 point I got on my birthday. I outbid a nice rub and knew right away what to to with it. I then had the buck mounted on a hooking tree form with a left head turn and quarter cut to hug the wall. Turned out pretty nice I think!
  7. Here I a buck I have only seen on camera. Once 2 years ago I had a pic of him walking through and now this one. How on earth do you hunt a ghost buck like this?
  8. 1/8/2012 Smokepole Buck Looks great, and nice buck
  9. scent control clothes If you bow hunt like me, I personally will take any advantage I can get. You still have to play the wind, but if it swirls on you at just the wrong moment, it might just save you. I waited until my scentlok was on sale. You can get very cheap camo at academy at the end of the year. When they put stuff on clearence, they want it gone quick!
  10. recipe ideas Make a rub with equal amounts of onion powder, garlic powder, ground pepper, and cyan pepper if you like it hot. Rub breasts and smoke for 3 hrs. It's amazing!
  11. So after sitting in the fridge in salt water for a week, I decided to smoke the breasts from the turkey I shot last Monday. I have never smoked anything, and never had wild turkey, so my hopes were not high. Well let me tell you, this is the best thing I have EVER prepared! Absolutely amazing. I just made a rub out of pepper, onion powder, garlic salt. And placed it ton the right side of the grill with a small oak fire in the left side of the grill. My mouth is still watering.
  12. 25.00 each unless you prefer more expensive woods. The ones shown are cedar, poplar, and pine.
  13. Looks like the noose is tightening. I read this yesterday. Disgusting!
  14. Promising spot I would not leave your camera out there. I can assure you, no matter how remote you think it is, someone else also knows about it. I've had a ground blind and a game camera stollen from two places like this. The blind was even chained to the tree!
  15. This is the Tom I just bagged with my bow!
  16. bow for turkey I shot mine broadside. Right through the upper wing bone and straight into the boiler room. He was dead before I ran over to him!
  17. One bird down for the Hoyt! pics Thanks! I will have to say or user have had the lord helping me out or lots of beginners luck on my side! It was a blast though, and I can't wait to go again.
  18. One bird down for the Hoyt! pics Please note my phone and I don't get along so there will be many mis-spelled words and some it completely changes all together! Use your imagination to figure out what I meant to say.
  19. I got in my blind well before dusk and waited till just after 6am to start calling. I heard a Tom gobbling like crazy, but he would not come in. After about 30 min. Of this, I packed up my decoys graves the Hoyt and decided to make a stalk. I moved about 80 yards closer, set up the decoys and tried it again. Nothing, so I packed up and moved again. I walked through the trees to keep hidden and jumped two coyotes. I could not get a shot on them! I moved to the en of a clear cut toward where I had heard him last and set the decoy in the open cut. I then moved back into the woods 25 yard from the decoys. I called a bit and heard him gobble again. I looked over and se a deer, do I grabbed my phone to video the deer for my son. Just then I looked over and there he was strutting right at me. I crawled back to my bow and waited I could barely see movement through the caesar do when he go to the center of the cedar, I drew back. When he cleared the cedar he clucked once and I let him have it. My first ever turkey hunt is in the books with a 23lb 11 1/3" beard and 3/4" spurs. The best part was the stalk with my bow!
