Saw this video this morning and it got me thinking. I've never had this scenario play out, but I'm pretty sure I'd do the same thing as her. Basically, the girl had hunted the same deer for three years in a row and could never get it done. This year, while hunting for the target deer in a food plot, a mature buck stepped out that was injured. Rather than passing the injured deer and waiting for the deer she was hoping for, she elected to take the injured deer. The deer she ended up harvesting was a mature 3.5 buck that had a bullet wound and was survivor of EHD. I would hate to see the animal suffer. Given the opportunity to harvest a wounded animal, regardless of size, I feel harvesting is the right thing to do even if that means my season is over and I could no longer harvest the buck I was after. It would definitely be harder in beans since they're harvested later. Standing corn is the way to go. This year a lot of the corn around here was out before September 1.

The corn came out way early this year on the farm I hunt. Due to the drought, there wasn't a much corn to begin with. I'm limited on areas I can plant food plots and am always looking for way to provide more food. This year especially since the corn came out so early and the rain right after germinated most of the waste grain. There isn't going to be much laying around for the deer come winter. After watching this video I think I'm going to try this.... Broadcast radishes in the corn stubble. It's late in the game here, but anything is better than nothing. Has anyone else ever tried this?
