I shoot a high country speed pro 10. It's fast quiet and very forgiving. I bought it last year and shopped three stores and shot at least 20 bows before I decided. So don't get stuck on just a couple of brands try them all. Good luck
Bury the head up to the base of the antlers then cover with a bucket. The bugs will naturally pick it clean. That's how we did it in Boy Scouts 20 years ago. Wow that made me feel old. Lol
The score without the deductions was 178 1/8 there was 10 inches worth of deduction. I say it's not going in the record books so the heck with the deductions. Lol
My grandad always use to say " sometimes life sucks but you've got to suck it up and keep going cause you never accomplish anything when you quit." Kinda rough sounding but he was in 187th airborne during the Korean War. Had 157 days in combat and made several risky jumps so I figured he knew about life sucking and should probably listen. Just don't give up hard work always pays off.
Well after a couple of days of seeing nothing tonight I saw two bucks chasing. This morning seen one chasing and a nice 8 with its nose to ground the whole time. Hope I'm right when I say rut back on!!!!
This morning I seen 9 does and a 8 point running across a field like they were herding up which would be very weird this early. I'm hoping something just spooked them from a bedding area or something like that. It has been an odd season that's all I know.
I live in southern Illinois and have seen very little rut activity so far this year. Is anyone else from southern Illinois and what have you been seeing so far?
A lot depends on how big the area is your hunting. I've got a 20 acre patch that usually only holds 2 or 3 does with bucks coming and going during the rut. That is a buck only woods for me due to the fact the does are what bring the bucks in.
I wear under armour and the early season hoodie I've got I ripped a small hole in hopping a fence three years ago. In that time the hole has not spread a bit. Very durable, comfortable, and warm gear. I highly recommend it.
Scbasshunter yes Ill hang them out if I had a good sweat walking in or out and also spray them with hs scent eliminator. Walking in I usually won't have my hoodie or jacket on ill wait till I get to my location. I try to minimize my layers to avoid a big sweat. My step dad is a pretty accomplished bow hunter and he actually rubs his clothes in the dirt then stores them in a container. I've never seen anyone else do that but it seems to work for him.
I wear under armour everything and store them in a tote in the garage. I wash them once a year unless something is on them. I find scent block overrated seems as how 80% of your scent comes from your head not mention the stuff is hard on the wallet. Nature gives a natural scent block when you put the wind in your face and its free. I'm not going to say I've never been busted but its pretty rare.
Redkneck I downloaded the photobucket app but it doesn't show the forums app when I hit share. Am I doing something wrong. Thanks for the help by the way.
