Hey man as a hunter and rider I know how dangerous both can be. I'll be praying for a fast recovery. I also noticed your from my neck of the woods I live in mt carmel il.
I have six ladder stands that I have coated myself and I leave them up year round. They have been up four years now with no problems. Just be sure to check all components prior to use in the fall. Especially the ratchet straps just in case a little critter decided to chew on them a bit.
Just wanted to let y'all on the east coast know me, my family, and church family are praying for yens. May God bless you with good spirits and a fast recovery. Jeremiah 29:11
That just happened to me this morning. I spooked a mature buck and two does that came back in twenty minutes later. I know it was them cause the buck was about a two or three year old with a 5 or 6 inch spike. Very weird looking. Lol
Good action in Illinois as well. Been chasing a big 10 all season finally had him come into shooting range this morning only to discover he broke his right side completely off. Hopefully he will make it through gun season and impress me again next year.
Hey thanks for the tip. I've been now hunting for about ten years but have never tried rattling so I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes right down to it. Figured I better ask for help. Lol
Shot a Doe this morning using three blade rage at 20 yards and had complete pass through double lung. The doe only ran about 60 yards and my arrow and the spot she was standing was covered with blood. As soon as she started running the blood trail stopped and there was no blood from where she stood to where she fell. Not blaming rage heads but this is the second time this has happened to me using rages and think its interesting results. With good placement they drop quick but not every shot is a great shot so I believe I'll be switching back to fixed heads. Good luck all.
Here in southern Illinois last year a 30 point doe was taken and I believe either bass pro or cabelas purchased the mount from the guy. May be on one of their web sites not sure though.
Agree with the above answers but would add in my area most shops only carry the big sellers(Matthews, bowtech, etc.). Look at all makes and models. I shoot a High Country speed pro and for me it's the best bow I've shot. It may be different in your area but it's not a popular bow company around here. I guess what I'm saying is just because it's not newest and most popular doesn't mean it's not worth looking at.
I bought one two years ago and used it three times. I hated it and went back to a summit. I felt the same way just uncomfortable and couldnt stand up in it without a lot of movement. As far as a climber i like the summit viper but still prefer a ladder stand.
Very slow for me here in southern illinois. Full moon, rain, temp was in the high 50s yesterday mid 70s today 80s tomorrow is and back to the 50s on friday.
Try talking yourself through each shot. I always say draw, kisser, aim, steady, and release. That helped me alot to just stay calm and focused which i think helps to keep all around good form.
