I have good luck with rattling. It not only works, but is fun to do. I love getting bucks to investigate. I shot my second biggest buck a couple years ago rattling after I heard him making a scrap. He came in, but wasn't close enough and headed back to his scrap. I started rattling again and that's the end of the story :-)

This year was slow going with the storm damage in Wisconsin where I hunt, but it's picking up now. The rut is just getting going and looking like it could be a good year. I passed on a number of small bucks in hopes of the big one. I have been using an android app called 'wildgame talker - whitetail' from the google play store to work on my calling. The app has moon phase info too, which is nice because I like to focus my hunts around a new/full moon. It's getting time to drop one!!! Have you noticed more deer activity on a New or Full moon?
