Today is the day, and continued woes for the midwest....

Today may be the first day in thirty some days that Tulsa and NE Oklahoma may not reach 100+ degrees. Areas of NE Oklahoma did see a little rain last night while others saw rain Sunday night picking up as much 1/2". Our weather men are forecasting that we may be starting to see a swing in the pattern. We dont have another 100 degree day in the forecast! Keep in mind that up to Yesterday we have been over 100 for over a MONTH! Temps were easily reaching 108 and higher. Parking lots and road ways were often 113+.

It is also official that Oklahoma now holds the temperature record for hottest state in the month of July, in recorded history. Records were researched back to 1895 to confirm.

Hay is still scarce and this winter will prove to be horrible for ranchers. Even though it is being trucked in at record pace it hardly makes it across state lines before it is sold. I went to an auction on Saturday. Someone brought in a semi load of hay. It sold for $65 a round bale. Local prices are now reaching $80 and craigslist has the first advertised price of $100 for a 1100 - 1200lb bale. Small squares are already reaching $8-$10 each.

With last nights storms (because of the contrast in temperatures) we experienced high damaging winds. Some places recorded as high as 96 mph winds. Damage is fairly widespread, not serious, but insult to injury.

Also, wildfires rage almost uncontrolled. The national guard is helping with Blackhawks to quench the flames. At least one fire fighter has died as a result of the fires. Many homes and structures have been destroyed and thousands of acres lay charred.

Talking about the Oklahoma swing! After a month of this 100+ todays high is 90. We had a LOT of rain and severe storms last night. Now Tulsa and the surrounding area has storm damage...

One man in my home town is dead after a tree blew over on his house, electric was out to 18,000 PSO customers, etc. ***EDIT*** That is an 83 year old woman that lived down the road from my parents. Her trailer home blew off the foundation and rolled 50 yards. They are investigating to see if it could have been a tornado.

Two days ago we were praying for rain and a break in the heat. Now we have almost cool weather in the forecast and rain on almost every day.

Glad you guys are getting a break from that heat! Can't imagine living in that, think we had one day of actual temp at 100 degrees here in the past 5 years, and that was a couple weeks ago. In fact they said the record temperature for Ottawa was set in like 1938 or something and it was 101F. Humidex values here are crazy though, we had a few days of 110-120 heat indexes. Hate to rub it in but it's a balmy 64 degrees here right now!;)

That could be it but then again there are always those brain dead people that have nothing better to do.

Someone shot cows in Rogers County (NE of Tulsa) with a bow. Killed 5 and hurt something like 3-4 more including a bull. They left the cows lay, didnt do anything with them. Again, not motive. Just some brain dead mouth breather with nothing better to do....

I don't know if it's the same person but someone using a bow shot two trophy bucks inside a fenced property where the owner raises whitetails. This is a few miles north and east of where the cattle were shot.I don't understand why someone would shoot tame animals and especially leaving them lay so they're not doing it for meat.......scumbags!.

I hope the sheriffs department catches them!!!
