snapper
Re: box calls Personally I would check ebay...and look for a custom box call. Could get one for under $50 as long as it isn't a "collector" call. The reason for a custom call? I don't want the same sound as all the hunters in the woods. I just bought a custom made call from a guy in Kentucky...may sound like crap...then again, may sound great and no one else may have the same sounding call in the woods. I picked it up for $10 + shipping.

buffett1
Re: box calls Primos Box Cutter and the Heartbreaker are two great calls. They sound great and won't break the bank.
redbeard
Re: box calls Primos products are usually reliable although I have purchased one that was bad. Try a quaker boy is my vote for the money you want to spend.

My favorite boxcall is still and inexpensive Quaker Boy Grand Old Master. Just plain sounds like a turkey played loud or soft. Borch

I'm feeling like I need another call myself. Borch
Guest foulmouthfool
Re: box calls without a doubt the best box call for the price is a single sided box by Larry Gresser of Prairie Game Calls. I've run boxes that cost 4 and 5 times as much that aren't even in the same league. Doesn't really matter which wood you choose either, every one I've heard sounds great. And for the price, you can buy two!!!! prairiegamecalls.com
redbeard
Re: box calls If you can buy two of Gesser's box calls for 50.00 bucks, you better do it! Larry is a master at call making. Be sure to get some of his strikers too! I'm going to the woods this year with several and one of his yelpers too
