titleist_03
The corn came out way early this year on the farm I hunt. Due to the drought, there wasn't a much corn to begin with. I'm limited on areas I can plant food plots and am always looking for way to provide more food. This year especially since the corn came out so early and the rain right after germinated most of the waste grain. There isn't going to be much laying around for the deer come winter. After watching this video I think I'm going to try this.... Broadcast radishes in the corn stubble. It's late in the game here, but anything is better than nothing. Has anyone else ever tried this? hoosierhunter
Food plots in harvest ag fields this year Yes we did it in beans last year at this time and it grew but not well. The season was too short.
titleist_03
It would definitely be harder in beans since they're harvested later. Standing corn is the way to go. This year a lot of the corn around here was out before September 1.
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Few cornfields here not picked, think it might cost them more to harvest them than what the yield will be. Far as the radish in the stubble, might also consider some wheat. Had some issues with my spreader while planting clover plots here and lost about 2 lbs of clover seed on the ground. Ended up picking up a bag of evolved harvest rack radish to fill in where I was short seed since the ground was already limed and fertilized. Never tried it before and curious to see how it works out since we have had poor results here with most the brassicas, sugar beets, and purple tops we have tried.
