Scbasshunter
I really like the idea of not having to wash Scent Lok clothes every time I hunt but think it is over priced. I think some UA is reasonably priced but I feel like it would need to be washed every time I hunt just like my regular hunting clothes I have now. I get tired of washing my hunting clothes so much. Is the UA (Evo scent control) like SL in that it can be "recharged" in the dryer instead of having to wash it?
Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour I can't emphasize enough how much I like the idea of not having to wash my hunting clothes all the time with Scent Lok. Does anybody who wears SL find that to be true or do you end up washing your SL clothes every time you hunt anyways?
hoosierhunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour I where Scentblocker and I do not wash my clothes during the year unless I get something on them. Drying is what recharges the products so that's all I do. 1 hour high heat after about every 5 hunting days.
Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Do you still store them in a scent proof container or can you come in and just throw them over a chair or something?
hoosierhunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Scent proof bags. Thy absorb odor so leaving them out will cause household smells to be absorbed.
hoosierhunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour I do caution you though as these products come no where near elongating your scent profile. One of the biggest places is your head and breath actually. Ie drinking coffee is really bad for scent control.

Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour I know nothing will make me invisible to deer as far as scent goes, but I just want some hunting clothes that I don't have to wash literally every time I go hunting. It seems like my regular hunting clothes stink after absorbing even a little sweat. Hunting in SC, especially early bow season, I don't have a choice but to sweat. Add in the fact that I use a climber and well I think you can see where I'm coming from.
Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Is Scent Lok the same technology as Scent Blocker in that it doesn't need to be washed either, just recharged? Same question about the Under Armour scent control line. I have surfed the web for the UA info but all I can find is that it's 10x stronger than carbon. Can't find whether or not it needs to be washed or just recharged.
wtnhunt
Do you still store them in a scent proof container or can you come in and just throw them over a chair or something? Leave you clothes laying around the house and it does not really matter what you buy. Plastic totes are fairly cheap and will help.
soillap
I wear under armour everything and store them in a tote in the garage. I wash them once a year unless something is on them. I find scent block overrated seems as how 80% of your scent comes from your head not mention the stuff is hard on the wallet. Nature gives a natural scent block when you put the wind in your face and its free. I'm not going to say I've never been busted but its pretty rare. Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Soil, do you hang them outside to let them air out before storing them in a container? Maybe it's just me but my clothes seem to not be fresh after walking to my stand and climbing up a tree, especially when it is warm out like it usually is here in SC. soillap
Scbasshunter yes Ill hang them out if I had a good sweat walking in or out and also spray them with hs scent eliminator. Walking in I usually won't have my hoodie or jacket on ill wait till I get to my location. I try to minimize my layers to avoid a big sweat. My step dad is a pretty accomplished bow hunter and he actually rubs his clothes in the dirt then stores them in a container. I've never seen anyone else do that but it seems to work for him. Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour The main thing I want to avoid is having to wash my clothes all the time. I know my father in law is probably tired of me washing my hunting clothes 3 or 4 times in a 2 or 3 day period, and so am I.
ckrich
The main thing I want to avoid is having to wash my clothes all the time. I know my father in law is probably tired of me washing my hunting clothes 3 or 4 times in a 2 or 3 day period, and so am I. That's ridiculous. Go to Walmart and buy one of the $18 plastic totes, the kind that looks like a chest with the lid attached. Wash your hunting clothes in scent free/eliminating detergent, dry them and put them right in the tote. If you want to "impregnate" them with a cover scent, get some of the earth scented plastic wafers and drop a couple in the tote with your clothes. Rotate the waffers to recharge them every couple of times you wear your clothes. Take care to reduce what you expose your hunting clothes to, so don't wear them around the house, go to the store, ect. If you're not hunting, your clothes should be in the tote. Whenever possible, carry in one of your layers to reduce sweating. Also, carry a bottle of scent eliminating spray to the stand, and once you are in the stand spray yourself down again. That is taking it to the extreme, but that is what it sounds like you are looking for. I'd say 90% of my hunting gear is UA, and I love it. Don't forget that the most important scent control is achieved by paying attention to the wind and setting up accordingly.
Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour If I don't wash my clothes and then I put them in a container, aren't they just going to smell worse from being in the container?
ckrich
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour No. It's a plastic container, it will either have no smell or it will absorb the earth scent. Just like the scent wafers, which are plastic. I think you are putting too much worry into your gear. Yes, it is a good practice to keep your gear scent controlled. But your body is putting off scent constantly.
hoosierhunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Sc yes bc they smell bc of sweat. If your sweating bad they need washed. Nothing you can do to avoid that.
Ethan Givan
Most of my hunting clothes, especially my outer wear clothes, never go in the house. They stay in a plastic tote sealed up in the back of the truck. When I get where Im hunting, I pull them straight out of the tote, put them on, and walk to the stand. When I get back to the truck, they come off, and go back in the tote. The clothes never see the inside of the truck or house. When I get home I will pull them out and hang them outide and let the wind blow through them a few hours. May even spray them down with scent-a-way before putting them back in the tote. Will wash them every 4 or 5 hunts, depending on temps. No expensive Scentlok for me.
kpdaly85
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour If your so worried about your scent just play the wind, I've hardly used any scent cover excluding spraying my self down before I walk into my hunting area and have had deer at arms distance before, it's all just luck in the long run. People back in the day didn't have anything except burning foliage and walking through the smoke and they did just fine.
Scbasshunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour It seems like every time I try to play the wind, it just ends up swirling. Plus, most of my stands, deer could come from anywhere.
rocknrob72
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour I actually use a 2 Tote system. I have 2 pair of socks, underwear & T-Shirts that ill rotate along with my undergarments (UA cold gear, etc) in one tote with earthwafers beside my night stand. That is what I hop out of the shower into and wear driving to farm. Then have 2nd Tote I leave in truck with all my outer garments, gloves, hats etc. I wash my undergarments every weekend and only wash outers if necessary. I also use black carbon powder that I put on my hands, face & hair at truck. For breath control....I keep a bottle of mouthwash in my truck that I'll gargle to kill bacteria in mouth and then gargle/drink water. Spray down & giddy up! Sounds like a lot of hassle but its really quick & easy as part of Pre-hunt routine
rocknrob72
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour The most important thing is sealing off your clothes to prevent absorbing other Oder. You can be just as scent control effective with a cheap pair of pants & sweatshirt/jacket from Walmart as you can with any of the high dollar scent control gear. Another vital important thing to do is during hunting season, convert to scent free body wash, fragrance free deodorant & lotion ALL the time....EVERY day....not just when your hunting. I NEVER use regular shampoo/conditioner, axe body wash or any scented deodorant during hunting season, even during the week for work when I'm not hunting. Some people take the high dollar scent apparel for granted and think they're putting on an invisible hunting suit to block colognes & smelly crap....BIG MISTAKE!!! hoosierhunter
Scent Lok vs. Under Armour Yep scent control is a full time job. Once sept hits here its a whole separate program until January.
