bowhunter97
Which do you guys think would be more likely to get a pass through with a bow on, a 115 lb hog or a 115 lb deer? Shot in the same spot with the same set up and everything.
535hunter
Don't know much about hogs but I have seen alot of videos with complete pass throughs on hogs. The hard thing to say about it is the animals have two different anatomys.
too_pointer
Not even close, the deer. Hogs have a very thick shield around and behind the shoulders. Behind a deer shoulder is the ideal shot placement, and an arrow can easily fly right threw if your broadhead is sharp. too_

bowhunter97
Ight thanks i have gotten a pass through on the one hog i have shot with my bow but the deer was quartering away so it had a longer travel path.
hoosierhunter
Pass through? 100% deer. A hogs shield will flat stop an arrow. Although a 115 lb hog isn't big. Once you get to 175 those shields get tough.

kpdaly85
Pass through? I've pulled out mushroomed bullets from a 30-06 in the shoulder fat of a hog...I would say its easier to pass through a deer hands down.
redkneck
Not much difference at that weight. Step up a hundred pounds and that hogs hide and head will weigh about 25% or more of live weight. Shoulder and rib areas are heavily armored.
