Shaun_300
Heading out in a couple hours to Myrtle Beach, cars packed and ready to hit the highway! Can't wait to get out of winter for a week. Looks like it'll be a good day to drive, nice and sunny and mild here and it looks that way all the way down so hopefully it stays that way. Have a great week everyone! Shaun_300
Well we made it! Ended up driving straight through, rolled in around 9:30 this morning after around 18 hours on the road and 1100 miles including gas, food and shopping stops. (was actually 10:30 with the DST change) Other than a small stretch between the VA welcome center on I-81 and Staunton, VA that the girlfriend drove, I drove the rest. Funny, left home and it was 48 degrees, this morning at 7:00am in Wilmington, NC it was 28 degrees lol. By the time we got here it which is only another hour drive or so it was and has been in the lower 60s with lots of sun!
LETMGROW
Enjoy your stay over here. Spend lots of money. We need it! Lynn
Shaun_300
Yeah hopefully some of it goes to fix some of the PA roads! LOL. No offence to PA residents but man that's almost a rodeo battle of its own driving I-81 at night between the road conditions and construction. Being a Canadian I understand the reason of a lot of the road wear and tear due to the frost heaves ect that are our of human control, we have the same at home. Just a bit of a handful with the twists, turns and hills, along with the road conditions and trying to not get run off the road by truckers at night all in the same grab bag is a little crazy! The scenery sure makes up for it though! Looking forward to the drive home so we can see it all during the daylight. I tell ya, hit the Virginia border to here in Myrtle is like driving on glass which is a real treat compared to the frost abused roads back at home. Took I-64 between I-81 and Richmond to connect us to I-95 for the first time (took I-66 last year). It was 2 in the morning when we went through so I could only see the silohettes of the mountains, really looking forward to the ride home during the daylight! Charged the battery up for my camera before I left home, get here today on the balcony to take a pic and guess what, camera is here but the dang battery and charger is back at home, doh!! Gonna buy a cheap point and shoot tomorrow.

LETMGROW
Didn't you say somewhere you were going over to Bristol to watch the race Sunday? Lynn
Shaun_300
We were gonna go to Bristol but I don't think we'll do it this year, maybe next year. Gonna leave here sunday morning and head for the Grantsville/Hershey, PA exit on I-81, watch the line dancing to the country music like last year and have a couple cold ones. Then get up and head for home in the morning on Monday.
LETMGROW
I see, plans change. I'd much rather see line dancers than 43 cars running 100 mph with the best drivers in the world on the high banks of a racetrack without a bad seat in the house. LOL Be sure to do it next year. You won't be sorry. Drive safely and enjoy the trip. Lynn
