Tominator
Landowner I'm friends with recently gave me permission to cut firewood on his property without him being there. He has 5 or 6 cords literally laying on the ground right now. Anything from White Oak, to Poplar with a black walnut and a few cherry trees that got toppled last year in the June storm that rolled through. I'm hoping to get it cut up before the crops go in and before my next grad class starts up. Wish me luck...
wtnhunt
Good luck Chris. Just ordered a new fuel line for my stihl. Got a lot of cleaning up to do around here.
dbHunterNY
i have yet to get my saw back out. forget the poplar. by the time you get there it'll be rotted anyway. too much work for not enough heat. get the oak and cherry first. any logs out of those? i'd get them before the bugs do. LETMGROW
If I read this correctly the permission was for firewood. Not to do logging. Be respectful and don't leave a mess. Talk with the landowner often, have him look at what you are doing and be sure you are on the same page. He may want some trees taken and some left. 535hunter
A good friend have arrangements with a landowner. We help out cutting trees, buck them up and get his cords ready, help him out in the barn and with what ever he needs help with and we have use of his 110 acres any time we want. Its a pretty good deal in my opinion since everything is becoming posted property. Have fun and good luck.

Tominator
Yeah, just firewood, not logging. Cut down a pesky osage last night. I hate osage. Great once it's down, but getting it down is a pain. Stupid thing got hung up in the canopy of the osage right next to it, so I'm hoping for a good wind storm soon, or I'll have to drag it off with the truck.
