hammerforged
Got a care package from my good friend Jon LaCorte over at Nikon yesterday. Got their new Inline XR scope with the BDC 300 Reticle for my new smokepole and their Prostaff 5 Fieldscope. I have ordered a window mount for the Fieldscope but probably need a tripod as well. Any suggestions as to good tripod that will be transportable and plenty stable?

wtnhunt
CHRISTmas came early Probably depends on what you want to spend Ross. How do you like that field scope? Saw it in the cabelas optics catalog, looked like a real handy sized scope.

hammerforged
Haven't had a chance to try out the field scope yet but am heading up on the Parkway this weekend and plan to take it along. I am looking for a tripod that will compact to around 8 inches but be plenty sturdy for the scope. Tripod only needs to open to around 6 feet. That new Inline XR scope for my new smokepole is wonderful, went out to the range last weekend with my so-in-law and we both got loads worked up, new smokepole really likes 100 grains of the Blackhorn 209 with 245 grain Powerbelt Aerotip and 120 grains of the Blackhorn 209 with the 270 grain Aerotip. I think I am ready to take on some of those Axis in south Texas in September.
