Guest kracey
This is my first year too. But here is a List that should get you started: A must! 1.) Gun and Shells (haha of course) or Bow and Arrows 2.) 2 different types of calls 3.)Camo clothing Optional: 1.) Turkey Vest (This is very useful) 2.) Decoys 3.) Other Calls ( Locator calls, etc.) 4.) Blind if you need it (I wouldnt really worry about this unless your primarily Bow hunting) These are the basics in my opinion
redbeard
Re: 1st timer A shotgun and good woodsmanship skills along with ALOT of patience. I've taken over 30 birds with that alone! Oh, some luck in your hat is a must as well.
RatherBowHunt
Re: 1st timer 1. Fully camoed with a face mask is definately a have-to....2. decoys (I usually have a hen with a jake decoy and sometimes a jake in strut tail....had a lot of luck with that) 3. I prefer Remington Nitro Mag 3" number 4 shot....4. A slate and box call for windy days...but my favorite is my mouth call...i use the raspy old hen from H.S. Strut....I also have to have a crow call to locate the shy birds.....hard to hunt them if you dont know where they are.....thats just my opinion on things....ive only hunted one year now and got a good gobbler... but ive paid really close attention to their actions and behavior..
