Guest TheDeerHunter
Ok I'm new to turkey hunting so any help you can give would be much appreciated. I'm shootin a Remington 870 Super Mag Express. I'm goin to be shootin 3 1/2's. Now I bought a Primos Tight Wad choke tube and I was shootin Remington Hevi-Shot 5's and 6's. Now here is how they shot: at 30 yds-40 yds-50 yds 5's-20pel-12pel -4pel in the kill zone 6's-37pel-12pel -10pel in the kill zone Now is that good or what? Should I try another choke? and if so what would be a better one to use? I was readin on here about the difference between 4's, 5's and 6's and I'd like to shoot 5's because they hit as hard as 4's but there are more pellets. Should I try a Kick's choke tube and if so what one? Thanks
maddhunter
Re: A little help please You'll pretty much have to just try them to see, if you want a better pattern. Sounds like you have a good one with the #6s at 50yrds. I myself look more at if there is a hole in my pattern(30" circle) that a turkey head can fit in and not get a kill shot. When you're in the field you may not aim in the exact spot as you did when patterning.JMO The Heavi-Shot in the #6s should have plenty of enrgy to effectively kill a bird at 50ysrds if you have that many pellets concentrated in the kill zone. Again JMO.
